Just one observation - I personally find it difficult to identify Funniest Writer as there are very few writers here that go for funny all the time. Would you consider Funniest Story instead? This may encourage a bit more humour as more folks may go for a one-off.

I'd prefer funniest writer and funniest story. I would think funniest story has a lot more meaning that best title for instance, which is a stupid award.

If I were you, I'd start promoting multi-player stories, and THEN write the momma of 'em all together with PM.

Although we'll still claim he carried you to the award :p

As a basic guide, there'll still need to be at least 4 or 5 non-stillborn attempts in a category for it to survive amalgamation/suspension for the year.

Good to see some discussion is taking place on some categories. Funniest Story sounds like a decent addition to me, either alongside Funniest Writer, or replacing it. Where do the others stand?

And if Best Title is past its sell-by date (I'm neutral on that one myself), now would also be a good time to talk about that.

I certainly think funniest story would be a good addition, but alongside funniest writer rather than replacing it. And I'm in the camp that thinks it's probably time Best Title was retired.

Funniest Story would be a good replacement for Funniest Writer. I would also join Stuart and Simon in retiring "Best Title" because there's not point to it. Even new writers get decent amounts of views these days, thus rendering the need for a catchy title to draw viewers.
Instead of best title, how about an award for "best introduction"? After all, the introduction is the one part of a story where one can be truly creative. Everything else in a story, is pretty much journalism.

Personally I'd like to see 'Most annoying newbie', 'Least helpful title' and 'best lynching of newbie' (could be multiple winner for that one.)

You've got my support for those categories. Some of the newbies have this horrible habit of bringing in all in one; dreadful title, very annoying and deserve a really good lynching.
