Next up was Hartha Berlin, Sesma and Pazzini both starting where they wanted to. Sesma on the left wing and Pazzini upfront with John.

After 15mins of attacking but 2 very soild defences Cagliari managed to find away through, Sesma lobbed the ball over the defence and found Pazzini who curved it round the advancing keeper. 3 mins later Hartha Berlin broke through a striker who skined 3 defenders and blasted home, scoreing. On 24mins Berlin took the lead from a free-kick, there was nothing the keeper could do, ir was a matter of time before this area was improed.

ffull time 2-1

Despite looking much more confident goinmg forward one thing that will need to be adressed is Pazzini was always targeted in the final third, the opposition picked up on this and marked him, Cagliari never looked for John.

3rd August

Cagliari have made another signing. Today its turn of Leece man. Cedrik Konan comes for £18.25million.

Konan said, "Im scarred mainly because the price tag has implications, and most of the Cagliari signigns play in the 3 positions i do, Gaven looks good, Sesma looks good and so do the strikers so i dont see where ill play but ill find a way to make me play."

4th August

Cagliari have made their first defensive signing. They have bought Isreali goalie Dudu Aouate from Racing.

Dudu would count as a second forien transfer if it werent for his French links. However the main problem is he cant speak any Italian.

5th August

Cagliari have made signing of 28 year old italian left back Alessandro Parisi. Parisi moves to them for £15million.

He is tipped as a very technicaly player, and good all round, however the former Messina player is tipped as one of the Cagliari's better signings.

7th August

Cagliari in double swoop. Firstly Stillian Petrov moves to Italy from Celtic for £5.5million and can play in DM or AM or MC. Bulgarian Petrov also holds a Scottish passport.

Also comming is Florentina Check defender Thomas Ujfalusi. He moves for £14million and will almost certainly add somthing to the defence. However he is not the worlds best defender and was probably signed to try and add some presence at the back.

The first game is against Giugliano in the cup.

starting line up:

Aouate(c)Parisi Hofland Ujfalusi AlexisSesma Petrov Gaven Konan Pazzini Capone

Collins John is unfit and Steed Malbranque is struggling with illness.

The first chance feel for the away side. A free-kick on the edge of the area, Gaven took it and it looked as good as in, the keeper parried and Pazzini jumped, he was left with a tap-in on the other side. A goal on his debut. The next chance was 2 mins later, once again from a set-peice. Petrov took a corner and it curved its way in. Pazzini got up and scored a second. The next 15mins not a thing happened, then a throw-in. Alexis took it, Capone picked up a minor injury winning it and would come off at half time. Anyway Alexis threw it in, it went into the box and Pazzini was fouled, penalty was given. Parisi stood up and made it 3-0. Cagliari had taken every good chance they had. 4 mins later Alexis made a free-kick from deep and crossed it in, Pazzini went up, this time it just sailed over. Pazzini picked up a minor injury in the move. Later Pazzini got his hat-trick after Capone made a chance, however Capone was offside when he got the ball.

Half time and it would be hard not to be pleased with the reult so far. However both strikers were struggleing therefore Garau and Esposito come on.

Straight after half time Gaven moved down the right and made a cross, Sesma came in at the back post and unfortunetly hit the post. A few mins later Sesma won the ball and found Parisi on the over lap, his cross found Esposito and the keeper made a wounderful save. The ball went out of play and a throw-in was taken, a player handled the ball and Cagliari got a second penalty. Once again Parisi took it and scored in the same corner.

Filtzpatrik came on for a tireing Petrov and goes onto the left wing, Sesma goes through the middle where the gap was left.

On the hour mark, Konan made a statement to why he was signed, He went past 3 players before unleashing a shot from 25 yards out, the keeper got a hand to it but it went in. A marvellous goal for the £18.25million signing. On 80mins the next action a Giugliano player got a second yellow for obstruction. On 87mins konan and Alexis teamed up again to work round the midfeilder and Konan then got it, gave it to Esposito who shot but it curved wide.

Full time was 5-0 away from home to Cagliari, although it was against much weaker opposition. Somthing was very promising, and fans will almost certainly hold Konan's goal in thier heart, if it was in the league it would be an easy goal of the month and top 3 goal of season easily.
