Newsflash from some French newspaper
Quote:
Valenciennes hiring Russian boss?

Valenciennes has been without a manager since Jocelyn Blanchard was sacked at the end of the season. 16th last season in French Second League, Valenciennes is now turning on a Russian NT manager who took them to quarter-final - Tanel Tursk.

Tursk, who is engaged with Russian tennis-star Maria Sharapova, has been without professional club football since last summer when he left Danish club NFA. 31-year old has also coached the Second League flop Cherbourg for a short time in 2006/2007 season and lead Cork City to 2 Irish Premier Division titles in 2005 and 2006. He is said to be a hottest prospects out there, but no big clubs has not taken the risk yet.

He was seen meeting with the club chairman Jean-Louis Borloo. It is rumoured that Tursk's wife has not got anything againist moving to France despite just buying a house in north Russia, which they have put on sale already to confirm interest from France.

Me and Maria went off to France. I hoped to reach an agreement with Valenciennes board. She was very happy with the France move actually. That meant that wherever I would go (Holland, Spain, France, England, Italy) I'd still not be far from the home. While I was there discussing the deal with Valenciennes management, Maria was finding us a nice big house/villa. No she isn't paying all of it. I put a lot of my money in it too! I have saved loads of money. I've put around half of my wage to rest all the time, I also have got big "gift"'s from Cork and Russia for titles. I also have had some nice deals on the stock's. We're not buying an billion dollar castle looking house made in year 1700 ofcourse. Few millions. One from me.

Anyway, I go off to my meeting now. We met in an unusual place for me! In club office. I drove there with my Mercedes, yes I've still got it! We sat down with one of the managing directors (the one who is in charge of money business) and chairman. They were named Francis Decourrière and before mentioned Jean-Louis Borloo. We didn't have to discuss for a long time. Deal was struck with me accepting with a 6,25k pounds wage and deal until 2010.

I told them about my plans and what I would prefer to see. They also accepted to finance my a bit crazy transfer campaign. I was given an 230k Wage Budget with 4,3 millions to buy players. A club was set to be relegation fighter, but in my plans - they are promoted team. I called my old friend from Estonia to come here and help me set up a few transfers. It was no legal contract with him, the club agreed to pay him tax-free hand to hand money.

I called Maria (We talk English with her, since she is not an big Russian. More American as you know):

"Hi honey! I got an deal."
- "That is so nice. I'm in middle of the negotations here. I've got an problem with them since they do not speak English very good."
"French thing."
- "Yes, probably. I'd like to have an house 5 km away from the town."
"I've got no problems with that actually. Do as you wish. Where are you at the moment?"
- "I'm at that cafe which we drove past while getting here. You remember?"
"I do. I come there soon. I love you! Goodbye!"
- "Love you too honey."

28th of June 2008

We got our house, the same Maria wanted. I offically signed my contract for Valenciennes that day. Club chairman Borloo also let me know that the club's finances will get pumped up by 2,1 million TV rights deal and 3 year sponsordeal with a local candy factory who will play club 170k pounds per year.

Before signing a contract. I had an brief chance to meet the players and look at couple of tapes from last seasons games. They needed some investing to do and soon I started to take calls to different countries, cities. By the end of the night. I had spent around 200 pounds on phone calls.

Next day, I had some problems already. I wanted to call Lens Reserve team to tell them not come for a friendly, but they were already on half way. Before me, there was friendly planned with them. I put them play againist our reserves because I wanted to get know the players more better than just watching them at the pitch. Also, it is my first even fully professional club.

5th of July 2008

I made my first deal of the year. From my 10 man shortlist, first to get his closet in the dressing room was promising french winger - Jonathan Perot. He's great crossing, dribbling, technique, teamwork and pace will come very hand to us. (Authors Note: All are over 16 there) He's just 21-yers old and came on free transfer. I consider this a very good deal.

6th of July 2008

Thanks to the year rest I took from professional club football, I had so much enegery in myself that I worked 12 hours a day. I had another hours of work rewarded as I got an Estonian mate Vladimir Voskoboinikov joining us. He is very good striker and will certainly be chosen some times. He's 25 year old and came on free transfer after not signing a new contract with FC Brussel on summer.

7th of July 2008

I got some more confindence between the posts as I signed an young and very promising Slovenian GK Denis Petric on loan from Auxerre. With his stats, he could play very good in Ligue 1. We're glad to have that 20-year old boy and we hope to make that loan move permanent.

15th of July 2008

I finally finished off my deal of the summer after weeks of negotiation. I signed the next big thing of the game - Erik Lund. 19-year old Swedish right-back is an awesome additions. It cost us a lot, but he's an totally awesome player. Everyone around is so happy we managed to get him from England, Sheffield Wednesday. He's stats:

Another addition game from Netherlands. Young 21 year old Lorenzo Davids from NEC will be an starting defender probably. Central defender has loads of experience for his age as he has played regulary in Dutch Premier Division for 3 seasons. 825k pounds was put to sleep, hopefuly into a right place.

19th of July 2008

I made a last planned transfer of the season. I loaned very good chinese striker Jiang Sheng from Metz. 19 year old player has shown a lot of talent in recent times and he's set to score loads of score for us. I don't know whether I will go out there once again with my 1 free million and find another midfielder or not. I'd like to start the season first in 1st of August.

Here is the "new" squad:

Valenciennes - not the nicest part of France tbh! You and Maria should have bought a pad in Reims or Luxembourg, both around ninety minutes away and a lot nicer!

Yeah, good luck anyway and KUTGW. Please though, don't be too graphic with your shenanigans with Maria

I think I will certainly be out of the relegation fight with those players so that isn't too hard. What is hard is getting promotion.

Also read my other story! "It is only a game if you win, but if you lose, it's a stinking waste of time!"

23rd of July 2008

I had an French League Cup Preliminary draw made. Mr. Borloo or whatever his name was - recieved an e-mail which said that we will be facing a club named FC Libourne-Saint-Seurin away. They also are in our league.

27th of July 2008

I did not finish my summer activity. Far from it actually. I signed an Benin defensive midfielder Mathieu Adeniyi on free transfer. He is 21-years old and has 10 caps for his NT.

30th of July 2008

John O'Flynn called me. He said he was forced out from Cork to Shelbourne! He was doing great! Being the top-scorer for them and stuff. Now they're selling him, but I'd not want to put my nose in that mess there. I don't like that new Danish manager they hired after me! I was mad angry!

I had my first match againist Nice. They are in my eyes the strongest team in the league and definately being up there once the places are shared. I choose exactly that line-up:

Denis Petric; Erik Lund, Lorenzo Davids, Yannick Fischer, Laurent Montoya; Mathieu Adeniyi; Jonathan Perot, Benoît Cheyrou; Haykel Gmamdia, Vladimir Voskoboinikov; Sebastien Heitzmann

French Second League, Week 1
Nice 3:1 Valenciennes (10. Sebastien Heitzmann)

Nice second half display and what a pass by Lund to Heitzmann. Absolutely clock-work goal! Sad that we lost the lead. They were superior in the first half though. We should've hit 2:2 before they scored 3:1 though. I'm kind a happy with the debut though.

I continued my transfer campaign. My next move was 22-year old Thomas Deruda. French born winger cost us 475k. He came from Marseille. I hope he will prove a first team player for us. Got some very good stats.

So, I bringed some more Estonian company here. Hope Maria won't get too mad when I've got Estonians coming over every night. Next player to join us was experienced centre-back. Estonian NT player, 29-year old Raio Piiroja. He came from Norway, Fredrikstad and cost us 400k pounds. I'm happy with this buy, though he has not lived up to exceptions in last years - I hope to help him refind he's career.

I had an tough match at home in Monday. Our game with Istres was publiced in TV. I put both new players in, but had Adeniyi injuried for the match. Our chinese striker Jiang Sheng is still at Olympics. Can't wait to try him out though. Very good player I think. But at my first game in home stadium, it was very important to win since it gives me some more backing by fans.

French Second League, Week 2
Valenciennes 3:0 Istres (12. Vladimir Voskoboinikov, 52. Sebastien Heitzmann, 61. Haykerl Gmamdia)

What a great game from the lads. They really made me proud. Also estonian scored to cheer me even more up. And guess who gave an another over-field pass to Heitzmann. Yes, the next big star Lund. It gave me a lot of confindence. I've got one player also joining with us soon.

We have made the final deal of the summer. Another Estonian joined - left-back Ragnar Klavan was left to the reserves of Heracles. I immediatly thought: "Hey what's to lose?" He's an talented figure and will certainly add to our defence-line. Atleast some depth. He's 22-years old, paid only 70k pounds. Now i'm almost were almost out of money.

I had an very though away meeting with Le Havre. They're certainly one of the strongest teams in the league. But it is that with every club that name starts with L I think. I had all my good players to choose except chinese Jiang Sheng who was still away with China.

French Second League, Week 3
Le Havre 1:1 Valenciennes (30. Sebastien Heitzmann)

Pity that we couldn't hold onto our lead with one more man. Otherwise - I'm pleased with the game we played and the result was good too. Win was very much to want from there. Heitzmann on score-sheet again made me very happy, but the midfield gives a lot away over periods and defence suffers through that.

Raio Piiroja has his second game with us and again he was brilliant, earning himself an place in team of the week.

Believe it or not, but John O'Flynn is playing CL group-stage football soon. He's new club Shelbourne is in group-stage after beating Debrecen (I still remember that damn painful home-tie) and Fenerbache on their way. John has only got one start because he's not registred for the CL at the moment. He though, scored his goal on that one chance!

22th of August 2008

Our home-stadium was half-full as we prepared to meet promotion candidates Le Mans at home. Jiang Sheng was back from Olympics after falling out in the quarter-finals with China, but he didn't start as I still opted for Voskoboinikov-Gmamdia support for Heitzmann. Le Mans were set to be the favourites, but we certainly wanted to prove those odds wrong!

French Second League, Week 4
Valenciennes 3:0 Le Mans (11. Sebastien Heitzmann, 34. Michel Gafour, 57. Haykel Gmamdia)

Great home win for sure! Our support was awesome and I have to thank the fans again by gifting us an great athmposphere for another 3:0 win. Heitzmann has now scored 4 goals in 4 games. About Gmamdia - I have really fought to keep him here at the club as there are offers for him coming every day and he does not want to play for us that much too. But he is doing wonderful so I see no reasons for that to affect the club fortunes and play!

25th of August 2008

We had two players in team of the week! Goalkeeper Denis Petric has been the rock in goal. He has saved our butt for several times already. Other man to get the credit was MoM Gmamdia. We're now fifth in the table!
