The 10 year limit is a rough guideline really, to facilitate the fact that this challenge period will probably be shorter than most. But if you can fit in a 50 year story by the time of the next challenge, good luck

So I was going to give this a go, was giving it a quick test run with Coventry on CM01-02. I didn't expect it to be as hard as it was...

By Decemeber I was rock bottom with about three wins and ten points from safety, took me until the tenth game to record a win. Obviously got the sack (On Boxing Day!).

I managed to bring in around £20M selling the squad and seemed to spend that on a load of crap that only amounted to around seventeen players. I'm guessing I should have looked at those signing on fees!

So good luck to everyone, it's not as easy at it looks.

Always knew you were a pussy, Phil :p

Right, I'm going to try and update the log every Friday night, and seeing as there are six challenge stories started, I'll proceed with the first one even though there's not much happened in most:

--

attjen is trying to upstage everyone else's efforts by starting off way down the leagues with Dover Athletic. No doubt his English pig-dog hating manager, Pascal McIntosh will have a hard time finding success in Revenge is a dish best served with haggis and stinky cheese

Big, rather than stinky cheese is the way Queen of the Stevenage has gone, and his undercover mission has seen him wash up in Southampton in We will invite them on the beaches!

Peacemaker7 has made a good few dodgy signings as he tries his hand at Alliance building in Cardiff. Quite why anyone would choose to base themselves in Wales is beyond me, but the success that is bound to come his way in Battle of Stirling Bridge...... Erm Cardiff....... will have me eating my words soon enough.

Reading have been chosen by ~Ian~ to start his attempt at the challenge. And things have been cracking on down at the Madejski Stadium, up to the end of October already with Jean-Francois McDonald's men sitting second in the table and racking up the monthly awards. Promotion certainly seems on the cards at this early stage in Reading, the next French and Scottish champions (of England)

A player strike is causing problems for Nadessico in The French and Scottish are revolting. No really, its a revolution. It seems the Preston players aren't entirely happy at being transfer listed, and with only four days until kick off, he has just eight players available for selection. Tough times lie ahead.

Finally, things have begun brightly at Birmingham for me, sitting 3rd in the Championship table, one game into October. A plethora of players were brought in and costs were more than covered by some big name sales. A reasonably small squad could see diaster strike if a few injuries were to befall them though, so there's still a lot of work to be done in The Last Stand of the Alliance.

Terk, what happens to us poor saps who may not be able to/can't muster a team full of eligible (by the challenge rules) players come the first match of the season?

Who is allowed to be put on the teamsheet? Greyed out players? Players with French or Scottish sounding surnames? Players who visited the Bayeux tapestry on a school trip back in 1994?

I have read the challenge rules but would it be acceptable to flog your new youth team players to clubs? Is there a grace period in which you can attempt to obtain cash for them as you may still be stuck with a few, less than spectacular old boys for a few seasons which would mean that your 100% Franco-Scottish squad is taking a battering anyway?

If the rule about releasing them straight away needs to be applied as it is then I shan't argue. It just seems a shame that you, as a club, would lose out on money where other clubs may gain.

It's tough enough as it is (see my first few questions)
