Tord, under the guidance still of the legendary Iain Bartholomew, has somehow recovered their form and ended up a very respectable 4th in their Second Division. Clemente was more than happy for his friend, and more than happy to take a team there for a preseason friendly and thrash them 3-0. A huge crowd of 49 people saw the match and it made you wonder why they even bothered having games like this.
The preseason continued with a 3-1 work out against a second string Saxemara side, before Karlskrona were seen off 2-0 and then the club embarked a fairly tough tour of Denmark. Aarhus Fremad were seen off in a narrow 2-1 triumph, before and incredible match with Viborg in which Saxemara were two nil and three one up, before the game ended in a three all draw. Worrying trend if that sort of thing continued. A second string was sent out against AC Horsens, going down by a single goal to nil and the preseason was finalised with a full strenght team taking on Esbjerg, and also going down by a single goal to nil. It had hardly been a riproaring success results wise, but at least the players were match fit and raring to go for the new season.
And the new season would start a potentially tough Swedish Cup match away to First Division North side, Degerfors. Just how tough this match was going to be, the Saxemara players sound found out as they fell behind after just ten minutes and further behind two minutes later. Elias Elio gave the visiting fans a glimmer of hope on 22 minutes, but just after the half hour Degerfors had a third and this was becoming embarrasing. Clearly, the players were not performing as had been expected, but slowly they seemed to battle their way into the match again and fifteen minutes from the end striker Fredrik Sorensson got his goals tally up and running to set up a grandstand finish. It could have gone either way really, but three minutes from time it was Degerfors who had the ball in the net again, and this time it really was all over. Saxemara's cup dream had ended rather tamely at the first hurdle.
If the cup tie had given the players and fans fears about the league, they were not on display in the opening match against Friska Viljor as goals from right winger Smedstad and from Sorensson gave Saxemara a good two nil victory. Sorenssson was again on target away to Vasalund/Essinge, but it took a 90th minute penalty from Ouladib to secure a precious two one win. Being in a higher division, you would think that the challenges would be tougher, but against Angelholm the challenge simply didn't exist. Two more goals from Sorensson, added to by Smedstad and Ekeneberg saw Clemente's side ease to a simple four one triumph and it seemed this division was even easier than the one below. Mind you, it would also have to be thought that the Saxemara side was that much better too.
Fredrik Sorensson was well living up to his preseason hype, and away to Olme he bagged yet another two goals, Behrang Safari claimed his first competitive goal for the club then proceeded to miss a 69th minute penalty and Ouladib scored from the same spot four minutes from the end. A straightforward, almost too easy win. Hassleholm tried to stop the Saxemara train, but Sorensson was in blistering form as he fired in four goals and the match was way beyong the visitors reach.
Away to SG97 and Sorensson failed to score. No matter, goals from Kurbegovic and Smedstad did the trick as Clemente saw his team record six straight wins. Hopes of a 7th win though came to nothing in a dull match at home to Hogaborg, which ended goalless. A third of the way or so through the season, and a trip to Bunkeflo IF. Early goals from Joakim Persson and Safari settled the nerves, and just before the hour Sorensson claimed his 11th league goal go the season as Saxemara sat proudly on top of the First Division South.

Determining the difficulty of any particular match in this division in advance is not easy. Basically, these teams seem to be at least not much better than the division below, although it's fair to say the Saxemara squad has been improved significantly. Things though were definately going well as the side travelled to Sandared, and first half goals from midfielder Kurbegovic and striker Sorensson saw Clemente's side head in two up at the break. Nine minutes after the restart Sorensson made it three and Saxemara were on easy street. Perhaps they were on too easy street and with sixty five minutes gone Sandared pulled a goal back. That may have seemed insignificant until they added a second in injury time and there were a few scarey moments before the referee finally whistled to announce another three points for Clemente's side. But only just.
Not everthying though can go as you plan, and despite Sorensson giving the side an eighth minute lead at home to Lindome, further slacking allowed the visitors to level and the match ended in a draw. Clearly it was way too early to start thinking yet about promotion and the side would need to keep their concentration if they were not to blow all their fine work. Next up then was Frej away, and althought they were 5th, they were miles behind the leaders. When they took a 15th minute lead, it might have been viewed as further evidence that the Saxemara bandwagon was coming off the rails, but four minutes later an Ouladib penalty levelled things. Ten minutes from half time the defender headed home from a corner and then in injury time Saxemara had a second penalty which Ouladib converted for a rare hattrick. Not content with that, as Saxemara were awarded an incredible third penalty on 57 minutes, Ouladib took it, scored it and claimed a sensational four games and a hattrick of penalties as Frej were put firmly in their place.
An easy 4-0 home win over Enskede, thanks to braces from Sorsensson and Persson and then it was off to the side lying in second place, Vasby. Like Saxemara, Vasby were unbeaten and had drawn two games but trailed on goal difference. With both sides so dominant, this then would be a match which could have a significant bearing on who was going to win the Championship. Persson and Sorensson silenced the home support with goals on the 32nd and 35th minute to put Vasby's unbeaten record under real pressure. Just after the hour, Vasby had a goal and the pressure was on as they battled hard to get the equalizer but as they ran out of steam so right winger Oskar Smedstad bagged goals on the 88th and 89th minute and in the end a more than comfortable win to allow Saxemara to open a three point lead at the top of the table. Promotion was still far from assured, but it was certainly a huge step nearer.
As the second half of the season began, so it was off to face Friska Viljor again. Early goals from Borg - in for the injured Behrang Safari - and Sorensen left the home side under pressure but once more the Saxemara players seemed to relax a but too much as Friska had a goal back by half time and then with sixteen minutes left to play the match was level again. A great fightback, but it did nothing more than spur the Saxemara players to roll up their sleeves and goals from Joakim Persson, Daniel and Peter Larsson, all in the last six minutes saw Saxemara eventually run out five two winners and the points were certainly deserved. The complacency though is a little bit worrying and something the side will surely pay for if they allow it to continue.
As the unbeaten run continued, Sorensson was on target twice more at home to Vasalund/Essinge and Daniel Larsson claimed another goal in an easy enough 3-1 win. Away to Angelholm and the players continued to attempt to make things much harder than they probably needed to be, but in the end goals number 21 and 22 from Sorensson along with strikes from Persson and Daniel Larsson wrapped up a four two win and with ten matches left to play of the 26 game season, Saxemara remain three points clear of Vasby with a total of 44 points and both those teams look certs to at least be in the play offs with Vasalund lying back in third on 35 points and fourth placed Olme even further back on 29.
On the transfer front, two players have left the club. Left back Patrick Karlsson was snapped up by Scots Premier League side Hearts for his minimum release fee of £250,000 and back up keeper Jon Rytterbo's spell with the club was to prove shortlived as he was on his way to Djurgarden for £100,000 after demanded a transfer. With Daniel Larsson and Freddy Borg also attracting attention, the side may be in danger of disintigrating once more. But for now, the fans can bask in the glory of being unbeaten , runaway league leaders.

I signed Rytterbo to be first choice, but Robert Beach had been playing decent enough and I don't believe in dropping the man in possession unless he's playing garbage. Rytterbo wasn't happy to wait so off he goes!

With the side steamrollering to the First Division Elite, Clemente's contract was running out and Olaf Larssen was so pleased he decided to offer him a new four year deal.
'I'm willing to pay you £90 a week!' the club President beamed.
'Thas great!' Clemente exclaimed, then he remembered that he already got paid £100 a week. 'But erm, forgive me for asking sir, but I already get paid £100 a week'
The President's smile faded to a grin.
'Erm, forgive me sir, but would it be possible to have a wee bit more?'
The President's grin faded to a snarl.
'Like erm say, £110 a week? If you don't mind. Sir.'
Larssen mutter something about daylight robbery, but he agreed to the wage rise then stormed off after telling Clemente that for this he better damn well get them into Europe soon. Clemente stood flabergasted. Europe? How the hell was he going to get anywhere near Europe any time soon. Unless.....
As the actual football, it continued apace and there was little to give the Saxemara much displeasure. As Vasby dropped points by stutterting to a few draws, so the gap at the top merely grew and grew. SG97 did provide stubborn resistance for the whole of the first half, but less than a minute after the restart Sorensson had Saxemara ahead and Persson wrapped up the points nine minutes later. A 5-0 win over Olme, 4-1 against Hasselholm and it was all going splendidly easily, too easily perhaps but at least the fans were loving it and as they would probably have a much harder time next season, they may as well enjoy this one as much as they could.
Hogarborg, Bunkeflo and Lindome were all seen off easily, and with four matches left to play Saxemara stood just one win away from the First Division Elite. A home match with Sandared, 1-0 up within seconds and the title was going to be sealed in style. Except the Sandared players had other ideas and the utter complacency which had crept into the Saxemara players all too often at time, finally came back to bite them in the bum as they lost 2-1, their unbeaten run of 22 matches smashed to pieces and they would have to wait at least one more week to secure that title.
Wait one more week they did, and although it was far from pretty and although Enskede could have ruined it all if they had not missed an 85th minute penalty, nevertheless Saxemara ground out a two one win and their place in the Elite was finally confirmed. Two home games concluded the season, a 3-0 win over Frej and then a final day match against 2nd placed Vasby. A 59th minute Persson goal sent Vasby tumbling to only their second defeat of the season, but their stuttering draws were to come back to haunt them as a win for Vasalund/Essinge meant they pipped Vasby to second play - and a play off spot - by one point.
Magnus Eriksson, who would retire at the end of the season, was given the full 90 minutes in the last match and did not perform too badly for a 35 year old and could probably do a decent job for someone else if he had not decided to hang up his boots. Eriksson's 34 goals for the club remain a record for now, but with Fredrik Sorensson having banged in 31 in 25 league matches, that total is sure to be overhauled. Nevertheless, Eriksson will always have a special place in Saxemara folkelore.
It was though, time to move on and the new season was sure to bring a much harder challenge, and the challenge Clemente faced during the winter was to try and keep the core of his squad together. That would not prove to be an overly easy task.

Another winter brought the usual rounds of activity on the transfer front, but although there were players leaving and players arriving, the actual turnover was not quite as high this time round as previous years - much to the relief of a support who were getting used to having to have new names on their tops every few months. Rashid Elmahi had been fairly unimpressive and as his contract was up, he was allowed to leave. Freddy Borg also left for nothing, although a last ditch effort was made to retain the services of the back up left winger but in the end he chose to move to Hammarby under freedom of contract. He wasn't all that good anyway.
A one million pound bid from Hacken was more then enough to secure the services of winger Behrang Safari, and midfielder Joakim Persson was also on the move for £1M as he went off to play in the English Premiership with West Brom. £1.7M was enough for Hammarby to secure the services of right winger Oskar Smedstad and the money was certainly flowing into the coffers. Jesper Homqvist went to AIK for half a million, William von Schrowe went to Hacken for half that fee and Erik Tengroth also went to the English Premiership, this time to QPR for a fee of £200,000.
Fredrik Sorensson was on the verge of a £3M move to West Ham but unfortunately for him - fortunately in some ways for Clemente and the Saxemara support - the deal fell through when the transfer window closed without the Hammers having reached a deal with the player. These sales of course meant that there were new faces need, and with over £4M to spend, new faces would certainly not be a problem. Saxemara Squad 2010 Goalkeepers Robert beach (23) Another good season for Beach, as he continues to play above all expectations. Will continue as number one choice, but will he be found out amongst the Elite? Pontus Hagstrom (20) Played three times for the first team last season. Was not too bad, although conceded four goals, but did have one clean sheet. Still looks to be potentially a half decent keeper. Ole Soderberg (19) capped at U-19 level Didn't make any appearances for the first team but must have made an impression with someone as he was called into the Swedish U-19 squad. Will farmed out on loan to Premiership side GAIS, but he can be recalled if needed. Matthias Sundstrom (16) One of the new youth products, it's impossible to know much about him at this stage. Defence Jimmy Anderson (21) A £35,000 signing from Hogaborg to play at right back. Has generally been unimpressive though in his career so far. Johan Bengtsson (25) Reasonable but not brilliant season at right back. Has now played over 50 times for Saxemara to make him one of the longest serving players at the club. Christian Halvorsen (22) (Norway) [i]25 U-21 Caps[/u] Despite having only made seven appearances for Fredrikstad and all of those as a substitute, Halvorsen has become a regular fixture in the Norwegian U-21 side and should be a decent acquisition for Clemente' side after being bought for £22,000. Peter Larsson (31) Entering his fourth season with the club, played 13 times last season which was his most yet and didn't do too badly. Will battle with Halvorsen for the left back berth. Neil McGregor (24) (Scotland) A £100,000 signing from Coventry, the Scot can play either in the middle or at right back. Should be a decent enough player for this level. M'Barek Ouladib (25) Another player entering his 4th season with the club and has recorded 57 first team matches so far, contributing ten goals, seven of them last season. Joel Ekstrand (20) Capped at U-19 level Failed to make any appearances at all last season for the first team. Hekko Sahara (20) Has still to make his debut for the club after his £2,000 move last season from Elfsborg. Andre Birgersson (24) Despite a decent enough season previously, Andre failed to get a first team appearance at all last season. Marcus Ek (16) Left footed central defender. Alexander Sjostedt (16) Central defender. Ulf Carlsson (17) Performed adequately with the youth side but doesn't seem to have improved very much. Midfield Elias Elios (23) Another excellent season for the midfielder who provided 12 assists and was man of the match five times. Can be utterly outstanding at times and it's a wonder he had not been attracting attention from so-called bigger clubs. Elmin Kurbegovic (22) Capped at U-19 level Had a fairly decent season, and the departure of Persson will surely see him start much more often than his fifteen appearances. Siyabonga Siphika (28) (South Africa) 3 caps A £40,000 signing from Trelleborg, has also played in Sweden with Norkopping and Orgryte but has been far from impressive. Kenneth Gustafsson (27) £24,000 signing from AIK, where he was far from impressive, although he did have a better time previously at Norrkoping and will be looking to recapture that form. Haris Laitinen (25) 2 U-21 caps Only played twice after his late season move from Leicester but certainly seems as if he could be a half decent player. Viktor Ronneklev (27) Only four appearances last season and was fairly unimpressive. Probably won't be at the club much longer. Pontus Hansson (21) Entering his 4th season with the club, Hansson has played only 13 times and didn't appear at all for the first team last season. Mattias Pihl (17) Decent enough season in the youths, but still looks unlikely to make it. Ulf Karlsson (17) Signed from Eskilstuna Sodra for £60,000, Karlsson is an exciting prospect but he won't be rushed into the first team. Attack Fredrik Sorensson (22) Sensational season which saw him score 31 times in 25 starts. Was on the verge of a £3M move to West Ham, but can now concentrate of smashing the club scoring records and helping the club reach the top division. Daniel Larsson (23) Has flitted in and out of the team, but can be a decent enough player on his day. Asgeir Fridjonsson (30) The Saxemara fans were glad to see their hero return and he repayed them with five goals in his eight matches. Dmytro Brovkin (25) (Ukraine) The £50,000 signing from Trelleborg was brought in to replace the thought to be departing Sorensson and instead will have to be content with a place on the bench for now. Daniel Haddad (23) A £9,000 signing from Valsta Syrianka who has scored only 13 times in 44 matches in his career. Might still be a useful back up though. Marcus Ekenberg (29) Four appearances last season means Ekenberg is surely on his way out. Has been a spectacular flop when all is said and done.

Time was flying by, and Clemente finally had his brand spanking new house, a little two bedroomed bungalow on the outskirts of Ronneby as a reward for all his hard work, and for making the club President a millionaire. With a new dog from the same litter as Angus - called Hamish - things were finally settling down nicely for Clemente who, to be fair, had endured a hell of a lot since coming to this strange land.
Preseason would see matches with Premiership side Helsingborg and Division One North outfit Kalmaar, before a four game tour of Iceland and finally a home match with Iain Barholomew's Tord. The Helsinborg match was to prove a real thriller, watched by an excellent crowd of 650. Kurbegovic, Fridjonsson, Sorensson and Gustafsson were all on target in a hard fought 4-3 triumph that bode well for the season ahead. Kalmaar offered little resistance as they tamely went down 6-1 and then it was off to Iceland.
Only mums can go to Iceland, because that advert is sexist claptrap and so I personally never shop there. Its sh*t anyway.
Of course this was a different Iceland. Four matches, four wins - including the 6-0 destruction of IBV. Things were looking good and teenagers Ulf Karlsson, Mathias Sundstrom, Mattias Pihl, Marcius Ek and Alexander Sjostedt were all given run outs at some stage and striker Karlsson stole the show with a fantastic hattrick against IR. Nevertheless, all these players will still line up in the youth side in the season ahead.
Tord were also no match for Clemente's rapidly improving side, as they were swept away 6-0 and left bleeding and dissilusioned and IB threatened never to play against Clemente again unless he was given a ten goal start. It was after all, only fair.
And so to the First Division Elite. An opening day away match at Umea went well, as Sorensson scored Saxemara's first ever goal at this level after just two minutes of play. Fridjonsson added two more, and Daniel Larsson sealed the win eight minutes from time and the other sides in this division were suddenly made to sit up and take note. Which, it seems, Orebro did. With Sorensson not 100% fit, Ukrainian Brovkin took his place up front and did rather well as he bagged two goals. Unluckily for him and the rest of the Saxemara side, Orebro bagged three goals and took the points. Bastards.
Yet perhaps that defeat was a good thing, as it staved off any edge of complacency this side might have. 3-1 wins over Vastra Frolunda and Oster kept Clemente's lads near the top of the table and in the 2nd round of the Cup they would visit First Division North side, Bodens BK. In theory this should have been an easy match but somehow the Saxemara players contrived to make it tought for themselves and in the end could only a muster a 2-1 win. Still, a wins a win and in the 3rd round they would now face another away day, this time to fellow Elite side Hacken.
Four league wins on the trot over Trollhattan, Norrby, Enkoppings and Jonkopping presented Saxemara as genuine title challengers. Then it was time for the visit of league leaders Hacken in the league, followed by a visit to the same side in the Cup. The League match was turn out to be an utterly enthralling game. Just five minutes had gone when Hacken took the lead, and truth was they certainly did look a superior side both to Saxemara and indeed any other team Clemente's boys had faced so far this season. Yet Saxemara were becoming a good side themselves, and to prove it Fridjonsson equalized seven minutes later. Another seven minutes passed when Hacken restored their lead and then ten minutes from half time they were three one up and looked to be coasting.
They hadn't however banked on Sorensson, who popped up just two minutes later and Saxemara were right back in the match. Unfortunately, Hacken restored their two goal lead right on half time and this was certainly turning into a footballing lesson for the Saxemara players and fans. The second half provided little of the first half drama but in injury time Kurbegovic added a third for Saxemara to make the scoreline a lot more respectable than it perhaps should have been.
The cup tie in Hacken was less than sixty seconds old when the home side were ahead, and the possibility was on the cards for a real hammering. To their credit Saxemara dug in, and on 12 minutes won a penalty which Peter Larsson stuck home. The match developed into a nailbiting, thoroughly enjoyable contest but just as it looked like Saxemara had earned exra time, the home side struck and that was that for another year.
As the league reached the one third mark - ten games - so Saxemara travelled to IFK Malmo and delivered to them a lesson in football of their of their own as they ran out easy four nil winners. That result leaves Saxemara third in the table with 24 points, one behind Landskrona and two behind leaders Hacken who are unbeaten. They certainly have a chance of promotion, but with 20 games still to go, its much too early to uncork the champagne just yet.
With virtually every players in the side attracting attention, it might well be the promotion push is derailed but if Clemente needs a goalscorer he only need look to 17 year old youth player Ulf Karlsson who has banged in 33 goals in 13 matches for the youths and reserves. he might just be knocking on the first team door sooner rather than later.

The middle of June saw the ending of most of the Southern european league seasons and the begining of the 2010 World Cup. Which meant of course transfer speculation reared its ugly head and a host of preliminary bids were coming in. One thing was clear, and that was that Fredrik Sorensson would be a Saxemara player no more, sooner rather than later. But with July still a few weeks away, for now he remained one and it was his job to keep scoring. Which he did.
Vasteras had the audacity to come to Ronneby and take a 4th minute lead - they were sent packing on a 5-2 annihilation and Sorensson had hit them with two of the goals. Flying high in the table, players were attracting attention and away to a Gefle side who had not that long ago been in the Premiership but were now battling relegation to the lower leagues, Kurbegovic and Sorensson got a goal apiece to gain a decent enough draw. The irony being that these were the two most sought after Saxemara players.
The final match in June saw the team who had come up from Division One South last season via the play offs - Vasalund/Essinge - come to Ronneby and to all intents and purposes this was expected to be an easy win for Clemente's side. Yet as so often happens on these occasions the underdog made things tough and it took till the 63 minute before Kurbegovic finally broke the deadline from the penalty spot. It would be his last ever goal for Saxemara. Resistance may have been broken, but the visitors were not for caving in and it wasn't until 2 minutes from time before Fridjonsson finally sealed the points.
July the 1st saw the European transfer market open, and the departures of two players from Saxemara. Elmin Kurbegovic went off to Premiership side GAIS for £1M up front and a further £500,000 over six months and defender Neil McGregor's stay in Sweden to was to prove short lived as he went to Bolton for £100,000. Three days later Kenneth Gustafsson joined the English exodus as he headed off to Nottm Forest in a £250,000 deal and was dissapointed to find out when he got there that Brian Clough was already dead.
A 0-0 draw at league leaders Landskrona was a respectable result and speculation about the future of Fredrik Sorensson mounted. The player in question scored a brace in a 4-0 home win over Umea, his 45th goal for Saxemara and also his last. With a club record goals tally, as his former team mates brought back another decent draw, this time 3-3 with Orebro, Sorensson was putting the ink on a £2.5M move to Manchester City that could eventually be worth over £4M to Saxemara. His £8,500 a week deal was nearly as much as the whole of the Saxemara squad were earning and he certainly could not be grudged it.
The departure of Sorensson had the fans clamouring for 17 year old youth striker Ulf Karlsson to be given his first team debut. 41 goals for the youths and reserves had certainly inrcreased his stock, but his first team debut would have to wait as he would be playing in the European U-19 Finals with Sweden. Unhappy Ukrainian Dmytro Brovkin came in at home to Brommapojkarna and helped himself to two of the goals in the 3-0 win. But that would not help him retain his place in the side.
With players leaving, players were needed to come in and with over £9M to spend the world was Clemente's oyster. Not that he was able to spend anywhere near that. Defender Drissa Sylla (22) of Mali, came in from Kalmaar for a massive fee of £1000. Sylla has not had the best of times at the Premiership side but Clemente clearly feels he can do a job for him. 23 year old defender Eddie Avdic comes in from Second Division Pitea for £10,000. Avdic has been doing quite well for Pitea and is looking forward to playing at a higher level.
Two midfielders were also brought in, 27 year old Dan Ingvarsson from Bunkello for £14,000 and 19 year old Andreas Olofsson from Lundby for £35,000. The final acquisition for now was right winger Mensur Berbatovic (25) from Karlskrona for £25,000 to be a back up to Daniel Larsson.
Ulf Karlsson finally made his much anticipated competitive first team debut at home to Vastra Frolunda, but he put in a poor showing, being overshadowed by 19 year old midfield debutant Olofsson who opened the scoring with a scorching long range effort right on half time. With 64 minutes gone the struggling Karlsson was replaced by Brovkin and five minutes from time Fridjonsson secured another three points. Away to fellow promotion chasers Oster, and Karlsson finally made his mark on the first team with two fine goals. Unluckily for him, Oster scored four times and ran out fairly easy winners in the end. The 2/3rds mark of the season was reached with a hard fought 3-2 win over Trollhattan that leaves Saxemara 3rd in the table and they have an excellent chance of going up to the top division. Table |

The final third of the season started with a trip to a Norrby side who were slipping and sliding their way to the lower leagues. On a rich vein of form, Saxemara proved too strong for the relegation certs as goals from Ingvarsson, Daniel Larsson, Karlsson and Ouladib sealed and all too easy victory. At home to Enkopings, who were not going to win the title and were not going to be relegated, the first half was a turgid affair and it seemed that the visitors defense was impossible to breach. Eventually Daniel Larsson made the breakthrough with nineteen minutes left and the gates having being opened, Ouladib and Karlsson felt obliged to add a goal apiece and in the end the scoreline would suggest a much easier win that it actually was.
Wons of 5-1 over Jonkopping Sodra and 4-0 over IFK Malmo pushed Clemente's side to the brink of promotion and then it was off to fellow title chasers, Hacken. The hosts were two ahead after half an hour and looking good before Ulf Karlsson put Saxemara back in the match before half time and six minutes after the break it was all square thanks to an OG. Saxemara's joy lived only ten minutes, but a few minutes later it was all square once more thanks to Haris Laitinen and another classicly enthralling match was unfolding. In the dying seconds Nemeth scored what turned out to be the winner for Hacken and in the end the home side probably deserved their win.
A 1-1 draw with Vasteras, followed by a 0-0 draw with Gefle and suddenly Saxemara's promotion push seemed to be coming off the rails. With Hacken top and Oster, Orebro and Landskrona all in hot pursuit, it was imperative that Clemente's side took something from their third from last match of the season away to relegated Vasalund/Essinge. On the day it was an easy win for Saxemara, and that left Hacken top with 65 points, and then Saxemara, Oster and Landskrona were all on 62 with Orebro a point further back. With two matches to play, the table could not have been much tighter at the top and next up for Saxemara was a home match with Landskrona.
Due to having a far superior goal difference, a win would ensure that, barring a miracle, Saxemara would at the very worst be in a play-off spot. A tough match that had a bore draw written all over it until the 85th minute when Asgeir Fridjonsson all but assured his side of that play off spot. Going into the last games, Landskrona would have to overturn a 16 goal disadvantage and that simply was not going to happen. An easy 4-0 triumph over Brommapojkarna ensure the play offs and although Oster did win their final match by 4-1, it was nowhere near enough to deny Saxemara 2nd place behind Hacken and for the first time ever the tiny Goteland side were into the top division of Swedish football.
Based on this seasons results, they should do fairly well there and certainly anyone who underestimates this side will be in for a huge shock.....
