My name is Tom Smith, i am 24 years old and i am a manager, well i say i am a manager but apart from countless years of playing on the pc game FOOTBALL MANAGER i have no experience in the football world.
I didn't really know how to be a manager, what i had to do, where i had to go, you know that kind of thing. So anyway on the 14th June 2004 i headed off to the English Football Assosiation Head Quarters, and asked them what i had to do. They told me all i had to know.
Just 10 days before my 25th birthday, i got a letter in the post from Conference South Side Weymouth. They had accepted me as there manager
[QUOTE]Dear Tom Smith,
We are delighted to inform you that we have accepted your proposal to be the manager here at The Wessex Stadium, you will be given a 1 year deal at £1,000 per week. Due to the fact we are £16,000 in the red, we are sorry but your transfer budget will be a hefty £0. See You Soon, John Waldock [QUOTE]
And so this was it, my breakthrough into the footballing world, Weymouth!
I remember quite clearly walking through the gates of the Wessex stadium, and then seeing a man with little hair in a smart black suit, waving to me, as if to welcome me. He introduced himself to me as the man in the letter John Waldock. The Chairman, Coach and my Assistant Manager. He showed me around the ground and then introduced me to my team, they looked a bit like this
Goalkeeper 1
Jason Matthews 29 English
He looked quite good, good enough, he could punch a ball further than id ever seen anyone punch one before, although he really did need to lose a bit of weight!
Right Back 1 Roy O'Brien 29 Irish
Again he looked quite good, quite scary too, i woudnt want to cross him in a dark alley.
Left Back 1 Mark Boyce 24 English
A fairly quick left back, and he had quite a bit of pace. Not sure about the long shots though, he'll have to stop doing those.
Centre Back 1 Simon Browne 33 English
Old and experienced at this level, Simon looked reasonably good, and the best id seen so far in my new team.
Centre Back 2 Matthew Bound 31 English
Bound to be one of my first choice, he was in reasonable shape and had a very good sliding tackle going for him.
Right Midfielder 1 Martin Barlow 33 English
Again, old but you certainly woudnt have guessed he was 33 looking at his, very good stamina.
Left Midfielder 1 Adam Wilde 25 English
Now this boy, had a VERY good cross, even Golden Balls himself would be proud of some of his crosses.
Centre Midfield 1 Shaun Wilkinson 22 English
Probably the most promising of the lot, he was good enough to be in the first eleven.
Centre Midfield 2 Ian Hutchinson 31 English
Capable, and his strength will help us a lot against physical opponents.
Forward 1 Kirk Jackson 27 English
The best out of all the Forwards i had, he scored a few goals in training which impressed me a lot.
Forward 2 Chukki Eribenne 23 English
Promising Player, who could also score goals, if he wanted to.
The Rest
Goalkeeper 2 Francisco Ramos 20 Portugese
Centre Back 3 Bradley Thomas 20 Jamaican
Right Defender 2 Steve Tully 24 English
Right Midfielder 2 John Lamb 16 English
Left Midfielder 2 Charlie Welch 17 English
Centre Midfielder 3 Kieran Keene 18 English
Forward 3 Lee Phillips 23 English
Well a good enough squad, well i thought so, to be honest i wasnt really sure how the Young and the Old would mix together, but as i got ready to leave as it was already half past five, John turned to me and said
"Oh and By the way, We've got our second League cam at 7"
 I coudnt believe what he'd just said, the fans would be here soon, so too the away supporters, and i hadnt even sorted the team out yet!

The Match Started worse than i ever could have wished for, Weston Super Mare forward Jack Halliday scoring from 25 yards out, after just 15 minutes.
At Half - Time i told the team, that i really wanted to celebrate my first game with a win, and even if they didn't win, i woudn't really mind.
I dont know if what id said to them had done effected there performance at all, i didnt really know if they'd paid attention to the B******* that id said to them in the first place, but what i did know as, after 75 minutes, my captain Martin Barlow scored from close range, after Shaun Wilkinson had his shot punched away. Then with just 1 minute of the 3 injury minutes remaining, Lee Phillips struck from just outside the box, to secure an amazing comeback victory for Weymouth, and more importantly, ME!
After we had celebrated that nights victory, i took a look on Ceefax and was amazed that they showed Conference South fixtures on there.
I took a look and after 5 minutes of waiting for the pages to turn, i saw that in just 4 days time we where to travel to Clarence Park to face St.Albans
