Regularly check your players personal screens, the second they seem unhappy offer them a new contract. If they are left slightly unhappy for a while chances are they will ask to leave.

i bought keiran lee form man u with mk dons when i was in league 1 ive been promoted in every season and ive just got up to the championship. hes handed in a transfer request stating he wants to move to an ambitious club! wats that all about?

Usually I'd be inclined to sell him straight away when that happens, or at least the year before his contract runs out but atm I'm managing Atletico Madrid, and since I started Pablo has wanted a new challenge but never requested a transfer, after the 2nd season I dropped him entirely and transfer listed him at the end of the season, no bids came in and by the start of the new season he was happy again and signed a new contract.
