I want a patch to fix the broken transfer market. The following is in the first season of a new 8.0.1 game. Nothing has been changed from the database:
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>Arsenal just forked out £24.5m on Sebastian Frey from Fiorentina. Sure, he's quite highly rated, but £24.5m??
Pompey just bought Downing (massively overrated in the game btw) for £18.5m.
Ajax just bought Aruca (some unknown Brazilian from Fluminese) for £10m. I've never known Ajax spend £10m on a player!
Villa just bought Ujfalusi from Fiorentina - £9m. For a 29 year old. Who isn't even that good.</UL>
In my 8.0.0 game (since updated to 8.0.1 and a few seasons played, so it *should* have most of the fixes implemented):
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>Lassana Diarra was bought by AC Milan for £22m in 2009.
Reading bought Sidewell back for £11.5m in 2009. He's now 28 and worth £4.8m.
Chelsea bought Ashley Young for £24m in 2011.
Aston Villa forked out £12m on a 30 year old Aliaksander Hleb in 2011.</UL>
Simply put, you have to pay extremely high prices for players that aren't worth it. I enquire to buy Micah Richards, Real Madrid want £57m. I enquired to buy Quaresma from Porto (not world-class, but good), they wanted £47m. I know you want to fend off interest from other clubs, but lets face it, if you offered £20m (still a lot of money) to Porto for Quaresma, they'd accept it.
I'm not sure how the transfer market got like this - it used to be quite realistic. Now it's just a bit of a joke.
| Transfer is ****ed up since 2006. The 2005 was superb and realistic, but since 2006, chances to buy something that's worth 4 mil for 6 mil is, omg rofl, no, they ask 20 mil for that. And if you offer 20 mil, and a player is worth 10, you'll have to offer 40, or 60, no, wait - 75. or 24045402033 mil for a 35 mil worth player, that is, if this Villa even wants to go from low-top table Valencia to 6-years triple winning Milan. In 2006-7, there was absolutely no chance for Shevchenko to pass from Milan to Chelsea, for example. Alright, they did accept the bid of 80 mil. And what happened? Shevchenko moved to Chelsea for 4-5 times less, and without any problem. I don't know what kind of intelligence is on work, but a Brugge range club will accept 7 mil for a 2,5 mil player, and Vieira will switch to Arsenal for 20 mil.
ONE MORE THING - What the HELL is with player stats? Has anyone seen this? I'm in year 2010 now - entire reserves set of Inter, Juventus, Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, etc. have some never-heard-of players with stats 15+ and dominate the transfer list. Like, some Donni Lavazze is worth 20 mil. Omg rofl, Eduardo, Kaka, Brown, Raul, Samuel ON BENCH? ROFL ROFL. Sometimes, I wish I know what's in the FM's nexus.

Whilst playing with the second beta patch everything was going tickety-boo with my Wolves team and I was doing very well, installed the new full patch last week, and for whatever reason, I can't win with my reliable tactic that I had just created. This happened to me last year, every patch that was brought out I had to change my tactics and tbph I am getting a little bit ****** off with having to keep faffing around with tactics every time a new patch comes out! It's not exactly I can't win it must be the game moan but moreover a fact that I took ages when the second beta patch came out building a tactic which worked well with my Wolves team, the new patch comes out I start again with the same team and now I can't win.
I have defended the game thus far. That ends now (not that anyone from SI, Sega or even these board would give a monkeys tbf). This game is a mess so far. I am bearing witness to defeats against poor non-league Scottish sides in pre-season friendlies (losing 2-1 to Arthurlie!), in another game I was playing as Liverpool I had 37 shots on goal 15 on target and yet only mustered a 1-0 win, and yet the other teams keeper didn't even get man of the match! Also after getting a scout report on everyone of my youth players I was advised to "offload as soon as possible" every player in my youth team, so basically get shot of my youth team then yeah? No scout would ever contemplate telling their manager to do that, something more along the lines of "Whilst Player X doesn't possess the skills needed to become a future Premiership star, he is good enough to remain at the club for the present time, maybe we can re-assess his future at the end of the season".
I have to also agree with Decadent about the transfer system, whilst you are expected to pay £40-£60m for a player worth £10m a computer player will always withdraw from a bid when they are bidding for one of your players.
I can't help but feel that some of the top brass at SI are giving way too much attention to FM Live, and completely neglecting the title which made them their name.
I gradually losing patience with this game and my desire and passion the burnt brightly playing this game is waining rapidly, so much so I haven't even played FM08 since Sunday night.
I actually do think that it may even be time to start from scratch and write a completely new FM game. Forget FM09 and bring out FM2010 with a great new look, with lots of new features, some new licenses and most important of all (and please note I'm not having a dig at anyone here) a game that has been tested thoroughly, I feel that that is the only way the SI may be able to get everyone back onside. Granted there are those who are thoroughly enjoying the game, but there does seem to be a growing amount of people who are becoming disillusioned with the game, me included there.
So for now (or at least until patch 8.0.2 comes out) I shall be putting aside my copy of FM08 and indulging in the delights of something else, maybe Civ4 or maybe even Sim City 4 I can't decide at the moment, but I may well be a well earned break after playing CM and FM games solidly for the last god knows how many years.
