I won't use names so I don't spoil for others using the same major team.
I am in year 3, and I have a striker who is 32 years old and has been performing fairly well for me. He has been unhappy for almost 2 years and wants to be transfer listed. The problem is that he is good, and only worth 3 million due to his age.
What happens if I do not transfer list him? Does he eventually quit? Does his performance drop? or will he just stay on my team until his contract runs out?
The funny thing is that his morale is really not out of line considering his unhappiness.
Just sell him. Why would you want to keep a player who has been unhappy for 2 years? Sell him and buy someone younger and better who wants to play for you.
On my Forest game Nathan Tyson became unhappy and wanted to move to a bigger club even though we're top of League One and he was my top scorer. I tried to keep him but he slapped in a transfer request. I agreed to sell him, and Leeds bid for him and are due to buy him at the end of the season. Leeds are in the League One relegation zone and when I get promoted to the Championship, they could be in League Two!!! Serves my petulant striker right!

Yeah I hate that, a bit of transfer intelligence wouldnt go a miss
I agree. However, Leeds probably have a higher reputation in the game which is probably fair, and if they survive the drop in my game they'll probably do well in season 2.
I think the player was probably angling for a new contract. However, I had other options waiting in the wings and thought that if I'd given him an improved contract, then half my squad would be queueing up outside my office for one too.
