Hello,

I have a very creative midfield so I set their creative freedom very high and long shots to very low. It still appears these guys like to take the 30 yarders though.

Should I decrease my creative freedom and restrict them more so the long shots decrease or am I crazy for thinking 1 is related to the other?

You are on the right track.

Telling players that you don't want them shooting from distance... and then telling them they can do whatever they want when the mood hits them is somewhat counterproductive... especially if one of the preferred moves of the player is "shoots from distance".

In general I greatly restrict the creative freedom for players who I want to always follow my instructions, which is most of them. For my team, I only give above normal CF to a maximum of 2-3 people, everyone else below.

This seems to get them to do what I want. (i.e. no long shots.)
