Welcome to West Ham; surely the most injury prone squad in the league. That has been my experience so far anyhow.

Really want to try your tactic..

before I do, do you have any advice about the type of player you play in each position?

what type of strike partnership do you have?

Are your midfielders all rounders? or is one more offensive/defensive than the other?

Do your fullbacks overlap or merely defend?

Are there any specific attributes required to make this tactic work?

I so wanted this tactic to work. I'm playing as Liverpool and the 1st game i lost to chelsea in the league cup final 1-0 in a pretty even match.

Second game was at home to Everton in an FA Cup replay and lost 1-2 with EFC having the better of the game.

Third game was home to boro in the prem and lost 2-3 again with boro having the better of the game.

I'm going to abandon it until the end of the season when i will give it another try.

hi guys i try and play with a little and large combination up front was playing with kenwyne jones and mauro zarate up font till jones broke his leg. now have kevin doyle replacing him.

i just play with 2 standard midfielders with a normal mentality.

my wingers are set to run with ball and try long shots often and cross from deep

no specific instructions for full backs

hope this helps guys.

Just tried it with Sheff Utd after going through a little sticky patch not finding the net. Results below:

Home vs Derby - 2-1
Away vs Scunthorpe - 4-1
Home vs Luton - 2-0
Home vs Swansea - 3-1
Away vs Wigan - 1-5

I pretty much dominated against Wigan but my strikers could not find the net. Kenny had a howler as Wigan only hit the target 6 times scoring 5!

Five games maybe not that many to come to a verdict, however, very promising so far! I've never seen so many chances created and the football is a joy to watch. Rattling my brains trying to figure out why this tactic works!

No disrespect to safc8, because at the end of the day this tactic DOES work, but i cant for the life of me work out why or how?.

I'm winning games i should probably lose and vice versa and i am currently 4th in the table with West Ham in my 1st season(new game) after 12 Wins 3 Draws and 4 Losses.

I would probably be doing even better if not for all the injuries i keep getting and players suspended for collecting 5 yellow cards, so i'm not complaining about the tactic, i just have NO idea whatsoever why it works so well?.

After being sacked by PSG I got a job at lowly SV Reutlingen in the German Regional Division South. And since the much lauded 4-5-1 was my downfall I have decided to use your 4-4-2. And I am very impressed.

Bit of background, Reutlingen were 17th (of 18) before I took over, with 2 wins in thier last 12 matches - here is how you tactic fared sir.

Score [Shots(On Target)

Stuttgart II 0 - 4 SV Reutlingen [6(4) - 25(11)]
SV Reutlingen 5 - 0 Sandhausen [24(10) - 8(0)]
Regensburg 3 - 0 SV Reutlingen [16(6) - 8(4)]...To be fair, I went gung ho at 1-0 with 10 minutes left, hence the emphatic nature of the loss.
SV Reutlingen 4 - 1 FC Bayern II [22(12) - 7(3)]...Bayern side incl. Julio dos Santos, Christian Lell and Andreas Ottl.
FSV Frankfurt 1 - 3 SV Reutlingen [5(1) - 14(8)]
SV Reutlingen 0 - 0 Karlsruhe II [15(4) - 3(0)]
Kassel 1 - 0 SV Reutlingen [1(1) - 10(6)]

I think we can all relate to the last match. But overall I am very impressed with the results upto the end of the season, and the manner of performances.

I now have a better calibre of player coming in this summer and I shall keep you updated on how next season goes Mr. safc8.

PS. Ditto to the not seeing why this tactic would work. But I appreciate it, and lets be honest, nothing logical seems to work (for me) so why not an odd successful formation!
