Villa haven’t won in a couple so this will be a good chance to get back on track being at home with the same side starting 3 games in a row now.
A good start times that by 2 with a quick Baros double giving Villa a strong advantage with only 15 minutes gone. But Berbatov claws one back midway through the first half making it a contest again. The score is 2-1 Villa half-time.
Berbatov looks like he’s causing Villa some problems almost again scoring with a header, but Delgado grabs the next goal of the contest slotting in past Cerny giving them a 2 goal cushion yet again. A good win this for Villa, keeping their push on for a top 6.

These are two teams doing a lot better than expected, so a loss to either side could ruin the form they both have in the league this year. It will certainly give the winner a nudge for a top 6 spot.
A very tight game with the main highlight being a disallowed goal for Baros, leaving it all square at half-time in a game which probably deserved to be at 0-0 at this stage.
Villa then took the ascendancy seeming to have the 2nd half under control but can’t manufacture that winner despite all the golden chances they’ve had. But they finally make the breakthrough via Delgado in the 89th minute with a shot placed into the bottom right corner. Baros 5 minutes later put the game beyond doubt scoring the 2nd hitting Fulham on the counter after they went for the equaliser. This was certainly a huge win for Villa who are now unbeaten in 9.

This game will be the half way point for Villa this year. A close game with few chances seems to be in play, but on the 30th minute Carvalho pounced in the box to give Villa the edge. The game has definitely opened up a lot more since Villa took the lead and Delgado almost doubled the lead on half time.
But If Delgado couldn’t, Farfan could stealing in on the far post from a first class Zebina delivery making it 2-0 to the Villa. Now in control, Villa closed out the game well with the scoreline remaining the same till the and Villa are looking settled, and in good shape for Europe even this early on.

Aston Villa F.C - "Turning Potential Into Reality" Post #24
With half the season gone, Villa have gone against all the Pre-Season predictions with those thinking they would struggle to achieve more than retaining top flight status this year.
The fans, more confident are still amazed at the position they find their side currently in. Currently laying 3rd in the table, competing with the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool Villa are finally up there with the big boys. This is even with an injury crisis that threatened to ruin their year early on.
It is unlikely there will be any January dealings unless there are any good deals on the go so the faith lays remained within the squad that started the year off. A top 4 spot at the end of the year is still unlikely to happen, but the race for a Uefa Cup spot spot is truly a possibility now. G.M:“I’m truly delighted with the effort the lads have all put in. Despite the problems we have faced we have remained consistent giving 110% in every game. Europe is now something we can aim for, and with a bit of luck we should be able to reach my pre-season target”.
Standings:
1.Man Utd – 46pts (+30) // 19 games
2.Chelsea – 41pts (+19) // 18 games
3.Aston Villa – 38pts (+18) // 19 games
4.Arsenal – 37pts (+12) // 19 games
5.Liverpool – 32pts (+11) // 18 games
6.Fulham – 32pts (+6) //19 games

Maldonado makes his long awaited return in the game against Sheffield, who are struggling bottom of the league.
Sheffield have started very well, but the luck G.M was on about is again going against Villa with Zebina injured early on. Hughes comes onto to take his place at right back. Villa now seemed to have settled down creating a couple of chances, and put one away in the 38th minutes through C.Delgado.
2nd half began with Sheffield on the offensive, but a counter attack on the hour gives Villa a 2-0 lead with a good cross from Camoranesi into Carvalho. Villa are now looking comfortable and score at 3rd through Baros in the 78th minute. The important saves from Sorenson at the start put Villa in good sted and the game finished 3-0.

Liverpool will be looking for revenge after their defeat earlier on in the season at Anfield, who go into this game as favourites.
Pool the take lead early on with an Alonso belter and they look in full control so far. Things go from bad to worse as Farfan is carried off injured. Villa should have equalised but Pepe Reina produced a magnificent save denying Baros. 1-0 to Pool at half-time.
Villa are going for the equaliser but Reina seems inspired in goal today producing another first class save. But another Alonso belter after Villa pressure gives Liverpool a goal out of nothing yet again making it 2-0. Villa clearly are missing a world class player to really compete with the best this year with Alonso clearly making the difference in this encounter. Farfan’s injury means he misses another 4 weeks of the season.

Villa’s first game in the FA cup gives them a home tie against Rotheram. On paper this should be a nice easy game and are heavy favourites to go into the next round.
The claret n blue have started in full control with an early goal giving them the advantage from a good Delgado finish. Berger puts away a 2nd in the 23rd minute and it seems a question of how many Villa are going to score. Carvalho scores a 3rd on the half hour mark and Villa are playing some flowing football.
Villa are now coasting with Baros getting a 4th early in the 2nd half from the spot. Still bossing the game and Camoranesi finished a good move on the hour. Villa were quite content to play out the remainder of the game, with the score ending 5-0

With Farfan still out Berger remains to play on the left wing for this game against Charlton. Villa will be looking to bounce back after their unlucky home defeat to Liverpool.
Villa have taken the game to Charlton with some constant pressure and it only took 15 minutes for the deadlock to be broken with Mellberg scoring. Villa looked to have made the game safe with a well worked 40th minute goal from Delgado.
Villa are now in complete command it they still look the most likely to score putting on more pressure at the start of the 2nd half. Playing some fantastic football they keep coming close to the 3rd but some good goalkeeping has kept the second half scoreless. A comfortable win here for the Villa.

Hot news for Villa fans, with Lerner willing to sign a high profile player and finances not an issue, G.M has decided to bolster his midfield by signing French international Pedretti for 12.5million. Villa have lacked a leader and someone that can boss the game from there, so hopefully Pedretti is the answer. He makes his debut immediately against the borough.
Villa suffer an early blow in this match with Mellberg being taken off injured. Since then Borough look the more dangerous going close twice with Villa still readjusting.
Borough still look the more likely to score in the 2nd half but Leo Franco is playing a very good game until the sub Aaron Hughes gifts a penalty making it 1-0 to Borough. Villa still seem to have zero luck with injuries. Borough held on for a 1-0 win.

The same side starts for this FA clash with Man Utd at Villa Park. Perhaps Villa’s last chance for any success this season lays here, so with the fans behind them they hope to cause an upset.
This game is a lot more open than the league clash last time with chances galore at both ends. But both teams are still failing to find the net with both goalkeepers making some important saves. It definitely has the feel of a cup tie with last ditch tackles flying in from all angles too. The Villa draw first blood on 40 minutes with a cross from Delgado to the arriving Carvalho in the box. But this lead lasts seconds as Saha gets an equaliser straight from the kick off a way Villa seem to concede a lot of their goals.
The same combination however strikes again in the 2nd half, a cross from Delgado into Carvalho who gets his second of the game with a good strike into the bottom corner. Man Utd are looking threatening again but Delgado creates yet another goal crossing into Baros who puts it passed the helpless Van Der Sar making it 3-1 to the Villa. An upset on the cards? Man Utd refuse to give up with Fletcher pounding on an Ujfalusi error making the score 3-2 and United continue to attack.Solksjaer has come onto make it 3-3 after Ronaldo dribbled past the Villa defence. A replay is needed at Old Trafford after a thrilling 3-3 draw.
