Blackburn Rovers manager Faiz Khan has confirmed this evening that loaned goalkeeper Richard Lee has been rewarded for his fine form. Khan has announced the permanent signing of Richard Lee from Watford for what looks like a bargain fee of £240,000. Lee has been simply outstanding so far this season covering for injured Brad Friedel. The keeper is said to be extremely happy to have agreed on the move which will go through on Saturday 1st July 2006.

BAGGIES AND ROVERS SHARE SPOILS
WEST BROMWICH ALBION 1 BLACKBURN ROVERS 1

It was close but not close enough. West Brom will have been feeling very unlucky tonight as they dropped two vital points against Blackburn Rovers. Diomansy Kamara gave Albion an early lead but David Thompson equalised just before halftime to grab a point for Rovers. West Brom dominated the second half, hitting the woodwork twice in the process. Faiz Khan made two alterations from the side that beat Portsmouth last weekend with Thompson and Craig Bellamy replacing Steven Reid and top scorer Paul Dickov as he was very tired. Baggies boss Bryan Robson made three changes from his side's 4-0 drubbing at Middlesbrough with Robert Earnshaw, Lloyd Dyer and Curtis Davies replacing Paul Robinson, Thomas Gaardsoe and Riccardo Scimeca.

Referee Rob Styles blew the game underway on a very cold afternoon at the Hawthorns. West Brom made a bright start to the match and they illustrated that by testing Brad Friedel. Jorge Alberto Rojas' longe range freekick was very sweetly struck but Friedel smothered very easily. Minutes later, Albion built on that bright opening by taking a deserved lead. Michael Gray was dispossessed by Jonathan Greening who gave the ball to Robert Earnshaw. The Welsh international got to the byline before hanging the ball up at the far post where Kamara crashed in the header from six yards out. Blackburn almost hit back immediately when Matt Jansen sent Bellamy through on goal whose shot was deflected but superbly stopped by Baggies keeper Chris Kirkland. Moments later, Kirkland again denied Bellamy, this time pushing away a header from a Morten Gamst Pedersen near post cross. Nothing really happened of note after that until the 41st minute. A lovely sweeping move from involving Richard Chaplow, Dyer and Earnshaw found Kamara, who sent a first time effort just inches wide of the Blackburn goal. Two minutes later, Rovers should have been level. Jansen flicked on a goal kick and that put Bellamy clear on goal but he badly dragged his shot miles wide. But in stoppage time, Blackburn did not make the same mistake twice and they got themselves level, albeit fortunately. Pedersen went scampering down the left wing and his low cross was turned in past Kirkland by Thompson, with the aid of a deflection from Curtis Davies. The referee brought the first half to an end straight after the goal. West Brom started very well taking the lead but Rovers hit back with a spell of their own and were level by the end of the half. The scoreline from the Hawthorns at the interval was WEST BROMWICH ALBION 1 BLACKBURN ROVERS 1.

The second half got underway to a rapturous home crowd and they should have been cheering even louder moments after the restart. Greening went down the right and his low cross came to Kamara but he could only blast his easy chance well over the bar. Blackburn had a great chance to take the lead five minutes later. Lucas Neill's high ball was flicked on by substitute Shefki Kuqi and instead of simply placing the ball past Kirkland, Jansen tried to chip the keeper but got it all wrong as the ball went harmlessly over the bar. On the hour, Kamara went racing through on goal with just Friedel to beat but his shot was superbly blocked by the sliding Ryan Nelsen. With fiveteen minutes remaining, David Bentley and Kuqi exchanged passes before feeding Jansen, whose effort went just inches over the crossbar. After 78 minutes, Darren Carter took a long range shot which went trickling inches wide of the far post. With five minutes remaining, Albion should have effectively won the game. Greening sent a ball into the area into the unmarked substitute Nathan Ellington only for his brave diving header to crash back off the post and into Friedel's arms. Then in stoppage time, the excellent Greening sent Kamara and his shot crashed against the near post and Robbie Savage cleared the ball off the line. Shortly after, referee Rob Styles blew for fulltime. West Brom's early bright start and goal was met by similar Blackburn finish and goal in the first half. In the second half though, Albion were desperately unlucky, twice hitting the post late on. The final score at the Hawthorns was WEST BROMWICH ALBION 1 BLACKBURN ROVERS 1.

HONOURS EVEN ON MERSEYSIDE
EVERTON 0 BLACKBURN ROVERS 0

The run keeps on going for Faiz Khan. The Blackburn Rovers watched as his side played out a goalless draw at Goodison Park tonight. In a match that was marginally edged by the home side, both goalkeepers were on song to deny their opponents three priceless points. Khan started the match with three changes made to the side that drew at the Hawthorns just four days earlier. Andy Taylor, Steven Reid and Shefki Kuqi came in for Michael Gray, David Thompson and Craig Bellamy. Everton manager David Moyes made two changes from the home defeat by Manchester United by bringing in Nuno Valente and Kevin Kilbane to replace Alessandro Pistone and Andy van der Meyde.

On a very cold and windy night at Goodison Park, referee Alan Wiley got the match underway to a very passionate Everton crowd. After ten minutes, a great ball wide to Morten Gamst Pedersen from Robbie Savage sent the Norweigan away with space. He tried to catch Nigel Martyn off his line by floating the ball towards the far post but the ball flew just inches over the crossbar. Five minutes later, Marcus Bent had a great double opportunity to give the Toffees the lead. First, Tony Hibbert whipped in a deep cross for Bent but his header was superbly stopped by keeper Brad Friedel. They forced a corner and Mikel Arteta's set piece was headed well wide from just six yards by the shocked Bent. After 25 minutes, Pedersen sent a free-kick on the edge of the area just inches wide of the mark with Martyn totally beaten. Moments later, Bent was sent through by Arteta but his low cross towards Simon Davies was smothered brilliantly by Friedel. Tim Cahill then put Rovers under great pressure. Valente's cross was met on the volley left-footed by Cahill but his effort was superbly tipped wide by Friedel to keep his side on level terms. Just minutes later, the whistle went for the break. It was a very reasonable first half at Goodison Park as Everton were very unlucky to go infront, all thanks to the superb efforts of Brad Friedel. The score at the interval read EVERTON 0 BLACKBURN ROVERS 0.

As the majority of the supporters that went for their toilet breaks and refreshments came out, the second half began on Merseyside. Just eight minutes into the second period, Savage set up Reid on the edge of the area, but his shot was deflected into the arms of home keeper Martyn. Just before the hour mark, Rovers really should have taken the lead. David Bentley went down the right flank and his cross was knocked back to Reid by Pedersen just six yards out but the Irish international didnt even test Martyn as he skied his effort well over the crossbar. Nothing else really happened after that chance other than Martyn going off injured and his replacement had to save his side from losing with ten minutes remaining. The outstanding Lucas Neill sent substitute Brett Emerton away and his cross was met firmly by Kuqi but his header was stopped miraculously by Richard Wright to keep the scores level. With five minutes remaining, Blackburn were lucky not to concede. Chasing a high ball, Neill weakly headed the ball back to Friedel only to see Kilbane smash the outside of the post and away to safety. And that was the last action of the match as the referee blew for fulltime. Overall, it wasnt the most entertaining match to watch and the lack of a goal illustrated that. Everton dominated the first half and then Blackburn pretty much bossed the second half but neither aide could find a way past their respective keepers. The supporters went away from Goodison Park to the scoreline of EVERTON 0 BLACKBURN ROVERS 0.

Everton : Martyn 7 (Wright 60, 7), Hibbert 7, Valente 6 (Weir 70, 7), Kroldrup 7, Ferrari 6, Arteta 7, Carsley 7, Cahill 7, Davies 7, Bent 7 (Ferguson 60, 6), Kilbane 7.

Injured : Martyn (60)

Blackburn : Friedel 7, Neill 7, Taylor 6, Nelsen 7, Mokoena 7, Bentley 7 (Emerton 64, 6), Pedersen 7, Savage 7, Reid 7 (Tugay 78, 6), Kuqi 7, Jansen 6 (Dickov 78, 6).

Man of the Match : Lucas Neill - very solid display by the Australian full back both in defence and attack gave Rovers a great threat down the right flank. Almost made a costly error to lose the match but hey everyone makes mistakes.

On your table screen in FM choose the option to print screen to a text file. Open the text file in Notepad and copy the text, then open a reply to your thread here in FMS.

Select the </> button (Code button) on the toolbar above - that will place a [ CODE] and a [ /CODE] tag in your reply (except for the spaces which I have inserted). Paste the table text between the two code tags and it should come out all aligned nicely.

If this fails you can ask the mods to tidy it up by requesting assistance in the mods help thread.

VILLA GRAB DESERVED WIN AT EWOOD PARK
BLACKBURN ROVERS 1 ASTON VILLA 2

Well like they always say, all good things must come to an end. Aston Villa outplayed Blackburn to inflict a first defeat in six league games on the home side at Ewood Park this afternoon. Second half goals from Patrik Berger and Milan Baros gave the away side the three points. Matt Jansen got a consolation straight after Baros goal to give Rovers hope but to no avail. Faiz Khan made just one change up front to the side that drew at Everton in the last game with Paul Dickov replacing Shefki Kuqi. James Milner and Gavin McCann were brought into the side that were beaten at home Middlesbrough. They replaced Aaron Hughes and Scott Brown.

On a dry but very cold Sunday afternoon, referee Chris Foy got the proceedings underway. Just five minutes were on the clock when Villa almost took the lead. Kristoffer Haestad passed to Berger who played in McCann but his effort went way over the crossbar. Seven minutes later, Villa were very unlucky not to take the lead. Haestad and Berger again combined to put Baros clear on goal only for the Czech international's attempted chip to clip the crossbar and over. Blackburn took a while to get going and on 17 minutes, they missed a great opportunity to take the lead. Andy Taylor clipped the ball into the area for Robbie Savage only to see his flying header tipped superbly over the bar by Thomas Sorensen in the Villa goal. From the resultant corner, Morten Gamst Pedersen set up Steven Reid
but his low shot went crashing into the sidenetting. Halfway through the first half, Baros sent Berger running down the left wing, he miscued his cross and it took an outstretched hand from Brad Friedel to keep it from dropping in. The away side started to put on greater pressure as Kevin Phillips set up Baros 25 yards out, but his shot went just inches wide of the goal. Moments later, Aston Villa should have taken the lead. Milner went scampering down the right and his cross was helped on by McCann for Phillips to tap in but his effort was straight at Friedel and the ball esacped to safety. Rovers were really living on the edge at the moment. On 38 minutes, Lucas Neill was caught in possession by Berger who then exchanged passes with Baros before trying to catch Friedel off guard but his chip was expertly tipped over the bar by the American. Nothing else happened after that opportunity until the referee blew for half time to bring an entertaining first period to an end. Of the two teams, the away side Villa would have gone into their dressing room feeling very disappointed to have the lead as they dominated for most periods. But after all that, the score line at Ewood Park was BLACKBURN ROVERS 0 ASTON VILLA 0.

The second half got underway with Faiz Khan hoping his side could put in a much better second half performance to try to win this match. But Villa continued where they left off by almost taking the lead. Steven Whittaker sent Baros clear down the right flank before pulling the ball back to Phillips but his effort was pushed aside by Friedel for a corner. From the resultant corner though, Villa finally made their dominance matter. Blackburn cleared a Berger corner which came out to Phillips. The striker then picked out an unmarked Berger in the area who calmly slotted the ball past Friedel at his near post. Villa boss David O'Leary was clearly relieved to see that ball go in but Khan wasnt surprised on the Blackburn touchline. Moments after the goal, Villa were clearly playing some confident football and Baros set up Phillips whose 25-yard shot went just inches over the top. A minute later, Wilfred Bouma had a goal-bound free-kick wonderfully stopped at his near post by Friedel as Rovers were clearly struggling to resist more conceded goals. Just before the hour mark, goalscorer Berger sent Baros clear on goal but the angle was against him and his shot went into the sidenetting. A minute later, a Berger set piece was routinely saved by Friedel as he looked very tired from these Villa attacks. Moments later, Blackburn missed the chance to shockingly level the match. Steven Reid and substitute Tugay combined to send fellow substitute Craig Bellamy through with only Sorensen to beat but his screwed his shot so wide that it almost went for a throw-in. Khan was so frustrated that his side could not that equaliser which would have been so harsh on the dominant away side. And that missed opportunity proved costly as Aston Villa extended their advantage with twenty minutes remaining. Bouma sent a wonderful crossfield ball to Baros who took a couple of touches into the area before firmly placing the ball into the far corner giving Friedel absolutely no chance. From the restart, Villa threatened to run riot as Juan Pablo Angel set up Baros but he missed from virtually six yards out. Straight after that, Rovers finally contributed to the match by pulling a goal back. Neill picked out an unmarked Bellamy in the area who drew Sorensen closer to the ball before crossing across the box for Jansen to head into an empty net. Jansen punched the air and rallied the home supporters as they sensed an unlikely point was in the offing. With just eight minutes remaining, Angel set Haestad up to seal the win but he found Friedel again in excellent form as his effort was pushed aside. Moments later, Berger swung in a corner for Angel to head but his header was cleared off the line by Neill. The match drifted away from Blackburn as the referee called for full time to bring a pulsating encounter to an end. Villa were full value for their victory as they bossed this match from start to finish and if it werent for the excellent Friedel, the margin of victory would have been greater. As for Rovers, their unbeaten run had to come to an end sometime and Khan will be glad for it to end as it could have added unneccesary pressure in future games. The final score from a mostly disappointed Ewood Park was BLACKBURN ROVERS 1 ASTON VILLA 2.

Blackburn : Friedel 8, Neill 6, Taylor 6, Nelsen 6, Mokoena 6, Bentley 6 (Emerton 58, 6), Pedersen 6, Savage 7 (Tugay 45, 7), Reid 6, Dickov 6 (Bellamy 58, 7), Jansen 7.

Goals : Jansen (72)

Booked : Neill

Aston Villa : Sorensen 7, Whittaker 7, Bouma 9, Mellberg 8, Webster 7 (Barry 70, 7), Milner 7, Berger 10, McCann 7, Haestad 8, Phillips 8 (Angel 70, 7), Baros 8 (Limbersky 73, 6).

Goals : Berger (52), Baros (70)

Man of the Match : Patrik Berger - the former Czech international rolled back the years with an outstanding display full of runs, dribbles, shots and a goal to top it all off. The former Liverpool man hasnt lost any of his quality yet, much to Blackburn's frustration.

Attendance : 29633
Referee : Chris Foy

BREAKS FALL FOR CITY
MANCHESTER CITY 2 BLACKBURN ROVERS 0

When your luck is out, your luck really has run out. Faiz Khan put his strongest team out this afternoon but it still ended in a second successive defeat in the Premiership. Goals from Andy Cole and Joey Barton in each half gave Manchester City their first win in eight matches. It was a fairly even match with both sides having the same amount of shots but what must have got the victory was the home side's edge on possession. Khan made two changes to the side that were beaten at home to Aston Villa last Sunday with Michael Gray and Craig Bellamy replacing Andy Taylor and Paul Dickov. Man City manager Stuart Pearce made three changes to the team that drew at Middlesbrough with Sun Jihai, Claudio Reyna and Darius Vassell coming in for David Sommeil, Willo Flood and Antoine Sibierski.

Referee Andy D'Urso got the match underway at the City of Manchester Stadium on a cold Saturday afternoon. Blackburn made a bright start to the game after six minutes. Gray fed a quick freekick to Morten Gamst Pedersen who took a few touches before unleashing a powerful drive from 30 yards out only for David James to make an outstanding save and the ball was cleared to safety. Two minutes later, Matt Jansen sped down the left wing and played in Steven Reid but his shot was just inches of the goal. It took a while for the home side to start playing and they had the best opportunity of the game so far on 13 minutes. Edgar Barreto and Darius Vassell exchanged passes before playing Barton clear on goal but he shot wide with Brad Friedel maybe putting the Englishman off by rushing out to meet him. Just three minutes later, Pedersen sent Bellamy towards the byline before playing the ball across for Savage to tap home, only that James wasnt allowing it and made a great stop to deny Rovers the lead. A minute later, Blackburn should have taken the lead. A high ball from Ryan Nelsen was flicked on by Jansen and it left Pedersen with only James to beat from six yards out but the Norweigan went for power and that power took the ball over the bar - a shocking miss! Halfway through the first half, a lazy Pedersen was dispossessed about 35 yards from his own goal. Cole fed in Vassell but his effort was put well wide - just as bad as Pedersen's miss minutes earlier! Just before the half hour mark, Claudio Reyna played the ball to Barreto who struck a shot from the edge of the area that went just inches of the goal. On the half hour though, Man City did make their pressure count as they took the lead. Ben Thatcher played a long, high ball through to Cole and he calmly strided towards the goal before lifting the ball over Friedel into the back of the net. Five minutes before halftime, City nearly extended their lead. A delightful one touch passing move involving Barreto, Reyna and Vassell played in Cole who unleashed a rasping volley heading for the far corner only for Friedel to pull a fanatstic one handed save. Moments later, Thatcher sent a cross into the area where Vassell just failed to keep his header down as it sailed over the crossbar. On the stroke of halftime, City missed the chance to extend their lead. Kiki Musampa sent a wonderful pass through to Vassell who took the ball wide of Friedel before seeing his shot crash off the crossbar and to safety - much to the relief to Khan who just wanted to get his players in at halftime. The referee then immediately called time on a great first half for the neutrals present. Both sides started off very brightly but as soon as City took the lead on the half hour, they began to dominate so much that the Blackburn players were just happy to hear the halftime whistle so that they can regroup. The score from the City of Manchester Stadium at halftime was MANCHESTER CITY 1 BLACKBURN ROVERS 0.

Faiz Khan must have really teared into his players at halftime as the Blackburn team were onto the pitch warming up five minutes early. And maybe that 'hairdryer treatment' had an effect on Khan's team as they made a bright start to the second half. Pedersen teed up a direct freekick from fully 30 yards out but James flung himself across to catch the ball superbly in mid-air. Nothing really happened after that attacking move until fiveteen minutes from time when City began to turn up the pressure again. Cole was sent through by Musampa but his shot went into the sidenetting. And just moments later, the home side put the game to bed once and for all. Cole sent the ball out to Musampa on the left flank who sweeped the ball into the path of Barton. The Englishman met the ball first time very sweetly and the ball was into the far corner with Friedel literally standing no chance. In stoppage time, substitute Brett Emerton sent fellow substitute Shefki Kuqi through on goal but he found James in inspiring form as his effort was tipped onto the post and away for a throw-in. After that, the referee put an end to a pulsating match as the City fans began celebrating their first win in eight league games. Both sides traded blows before City struck the sucker punch on the half hour, opening the door for the home side to dominate the rest of the match as they clinched the match late in the second half. The fulltime scoreline from the City of Manchester Stadium was MANCHESTER CITY 2 BLACKBURN ROVERS 0.

Man City : James 8, Sun Jihai 7 (Sommeil 77, 6), Thatcher 8, Dunne 8, Distin 8, Barreto 7 (Hussain 72, 6), Musampa 8, Barton 7, Reyna 7, Vassell 7 (Wright-Phillips 72, 6), Cole 8.

Goals : Cole (31), Barton (77)

Booked : Musampa & Vassell

Blackburn : Friedel 6, Neill 6, Gray 6, Nelsen 7, Mokoena 8, Bentley 6, Pedersen 6 (Emerton 73, 6), Savage 7, Reid 6 (Tugay 77, 6), Bellamy 6 (Kuqi 62, 7), Jansen 6.

Booked : Neill

Man of the Match : David James - the England international was fantastic this afternoon as he made a couple of outstanding saves and an imposing presence that must have been noticed by England coach Sven Goran Eriksson who was here to watch Barton and 'maybe' James - that says it all really!

Attendance : 44028
Referee : Andy D'Urso
