Looking to the future, will I reckon it will be January 2006 at the earliest there will be any chance of regens appearing so you're looking at the campaign after the next one really. I'd say we have 6-7 decent players who wont retire in the next four years which when you think of it, isnt that many. Half of them get injured and we're screwed
Still, it is much more fun with little teams isn't it!
| Did a bit of (Indirect, I was after a striker ) scouting for you - there's a 19-year old Faroese (albeit with a rather English name) striker at Macclesfield that you might not of found yet. He looks alright, nothing special, but an option perhaps.

Rep Power: 12 | Israel v Faroe Islands 2006 World Cup Qualifiers (European Zone, Group 4)
And so the final round of matches of qualifying for the 2006 World Cup Finals in Germany took place, and Ingi's Faroes team headed off to Israel to see if they could end on a high. Of course this match should have been meaningless, but there were no meaningless matches as far as Ingi was concerned - they were all part of building a team, a learning process that would eventually lift the lowly Faroe Islands into a side that people might actually fear. And for Israel, there was the little matter of avenging that humiliating 5-1 annihilation.
The Israeli players knew that they could never obliterate that woeful scoreline, that it would remain forever a pathetic, painful blot on their international record. What they could do though was attempt to at least ease that pain a little by inflicting a humiliating defeat of their own - a little revenge goes a long way. Unlike the three previous games Ingi had been in charge of the Faroes failed to score early and it was clear this was a much different match to the massacre of Thorshavn.
Israel were up for it in a big way, and just after the half hour their dominance finally paid off as they took lead, and six minutes later it was 2-0. The danger of a moral sapping mauling was firmly on the cards, but such was the new found confidence of this Faroes side that their heads didn't go down and on 41 minutes Todi Jonsson gave them a lifeline with a well taken goal. For a short while it seemed that the Faroes might well even manage to snatch a draw, but a third Israeli goal on the hour ended the match, and although it didn't quite wash away the first match result, it was a much happier Israeli side who ended this match - and Ingi knew that there was still an awful lot more work to be done. The rebuilding had really only just begun.
How they played:
Neilsen 6, Hansen 7, Horg 6, Joensen 7, Kjaerbaek 7, Jarnskor 6, Gunnarsson 6, Jorgensen 7, Petersen 7 , Holst 7, Jonsson 8 (1) Subs: Flotum (for Jorgensen, 60) 6, Einar Petersen (for Jarnskor, 60) 7 |

Rep Power: 12 | Faroe Islands v Japan, Azerbaijan International Friendlies
November 2005 brought about the European play offs for the World Cup Qualifying, and the Faroese FA had previously arranged home friendlies with Japan and Azerbaijan on these dates which Ingi decided to honour. Playing Japan was a good chance to take on a different kind of team, and even though it was a far from full strength Japanese side, this would still be a valuable learning experience.
It seemed that all the good work from earlier had gone out of the window though as Japan raced to a 2-0 lead after just 12 minutes. Previous Faroese sides would probably have collapsed and gone down to a heavy loss, but to their credit Ingi's team fought back, and with half an hour gone Christian Holst pulled a goal back. Faroe continued to improve and Holst was always looking threatening and finally on 65 minutes he got that goal that levelled the match. The game was to end 2-2 and overall a respectable result against a decent, if understrength side.
A dissapointing first half against Azerbaijan saw the sides go in goalless at the interval. JUst before the hour mark, Jann Ingi Petersen grabbed his third international goal, before Holst bagged a brace to take his international strike total to eight in seven matches - an impressive record for anyone. Another good performance and result and with Holst in particular looking like he has a great nose for goal, the future looks a little bit brigher for Faroese football.

Great story
But it kills me to imagine Holst not playing for my beloved Lyngby side.
BTW Holst >> Jonsson the traitor

| Looking good  Can't remember how long it was before my main Faroe Islands team (the one in my Ross County save...I tend to add a Faroe Islands manager to almost every savegame I play!) managed a result like that, but it was more of the order of years than months!
And btw, I agree with the last sentiment - I've managed loads of club teams that have given me fantastic entertainment, but managing the Faroe Islands and developing over a period of time was the best challenge I've ever undertaken in CM/FM. Seems you are getting well underway with your side's progression |
