Yeah i'll stick to this perspective.Maybe a little more insider on the manager, maybe a conversation with him at a bar,you know like end of season celebration at bar and he tells some information about his life.As he is portrayed as very mysterious from Young's perspective.
Just bit friendly feedback

Hmm, its actually working quite well for me - I'd been thinking of how to phrase a story from the footballer's point of view, and this is working very well. One of the things I like is that I don't "know" the manager.

Whichever way you go, KUTGW, Peacemaker!

Thanks

I quite like the intrigue of only seeing the manager through Jason's eyes or the narrators thoughts which give a kind of mystery if you've never read anything about Dave Green, which I hope it does

As the new season started with Jason on the bench for the warm up games, it seemed that perhaps the manager just didn't like the guy. But chances would come, so many matches had to be played in a season that players needed rested and players would be suspended and injured. Not that Jason would seriously wish injury on anyone just so that he could get a game of football. It was nevertheless frustrating to be overlooked once more, yet when given his chance three league matches into the season, Jason Young's name was once more written on the scoresheet and surelt to goodness he deserved a run in the team?

And although he was not quite yet a regular, a start at home to Aldershot was twice in three games and Jason celebrated by rattling in a hattrick. The choice was obvious. Either be prepared to stay, sit on the bench, score when given the chance but at least actually be a footballer. Or to demands a transfer and probably end up with a career that was ended. After all, the sad truth was that no-one else actually wanted the so-called talents of a washed up never had been striker.

Gradually the games came, as did the goals and the team put together a run that saw them surge clear at the top of the table. They were looking good, but its a long hard slog in the Conference , a marathon not a sprint and there was still a hell of a long way to go. But it was good fun, and being involved in regular first team action for the first time in over three years, Jason was rediscovering the thrill of being a striker. The talking point of this season, apart from the title challenge, would be the FA Cup. Bradford Park Avenue were about to embark on a run that would be talked about for years to come - or at the very least till next season when even this one would be eclipsed.

As the team surged towards what would in the end be an easy title triumph, no-one really cared about the day Third Division Brighton and Hove Albion travelled north to face Conference leaders Bradford Park Avenue. Jason Young did not score in this tie, but he was already being regarded as a regular player and had become a firm favourite of the Avenue support. After Dutchman Bert Stokkingreef had given the Avenue a first half lead, Jason Young had a guilt edged chance midway throught he second half to tie the match up, but as he was about to score so he his legs were whipped away and the Avenue had a penalty. Midfielder Mark Batty, still only twenty, was the regular spot kick taker and he did not miss this one as Park Avenue stunned their higher division opponents and surged into the 2nd round.

The draw paired the Avenue with fellow Conference side Yeovil Town, Jason Young did not score but the side still won by the same 2-1 scoreline as the previous round. Nobody game a damn about the game, but a few hours later Bradford Park Avenue were the talk of the country and Jason Young would once more be running out at Old Trafford. The Third Round draw for the FA Cup had pitted current English Champions and League leaders Manchester United with Dave Greens Conference topping minnows. The Avenue, and Jason Young, had finally arrived in the big time!

Nice update PM.
I also enjoy the knowledgeable addings of the narrator
"But even this one would be eclipsed by next seasons"

I've really been enjoying your stories Peacemaker. I was just wondering if you have a website where you post all the complete stories as one once they are finished? As I noticed if a thread goes dead for too long the mods will delete it. Would like to read all the stuff you have written.

Thanks

I have one or two stories still kicking around the forum somewhere and once Raptor finalizes the FMS site there should be an index of (virtually) every story ever written.
