10th July: The new players from Brazilian team Fluminese arrived, both were young players. Fabio and Rafael costing me £1.2 million each. Defentely players for the future

12th July Gabriel Hienze left us for Real Madrid for a nice £10,000,000, I was sad to see him go but I couldn't change his mind. Elsewhere shock news was that Jose Mourinho left Chelsea to take the vacnat AC.Milan post. Its a shame he has gone as he was a brilliant adversary. Rafeal Benitez was sacked as manager of Liverpool, which wasn't really a shock considering Liverpool just managed to beat relegation

14th July: Kasper Schmiechel finnaly signed for us in deal that will be worth £6,000,000. Alot of money for a young player but I trust my scouts and they all said he was one for the future...

15th July: Our next friendly took place at Bury, we won with considerable ease. Routing them 4-0 with Torres, Ronaldo, Rooney and Saha all scoring. The players seemed to be getting closer to that all important match sharpness

19th July: Fenerbache were our next opponents and we dispatched them with surprising ease, beqting them 5-0. What made it even better was that I fielded a different team in the second half. Rooney, Saha, Torres, Giggs and Richardson were the scorers. I was delighted with the show of depth in my team.

24th July: We entered the Friendly Cup competition and as luck would have it I was drawn against my old rival Jose Mourinhos team AC.Milan. Milan completely dominated us a we were routed 4-1 with Rooney giving us the lead, our casue wasn't helped by the stupid sending off Cattermole just beforen the half time whistle.

Other news was the draw for the 3rd Qualifying round of the Champions League, where we were drawn against Italian team Palermo.

25th July: We faced Seville in the 3rd place play off and beat them 2-1 with Ronaldo scoring early on and then Rossi getting the winner with a brilliant 20 yard free kick.

Other news is that Patrik Evra has left us for Wigan Athletic in deal which will be worth £3.7 million

26th July: We managed to capture the signing of Italian striker Pazzini from Fiorentina for a club record deal of £38,500,000. With scoring talent we should have enough fire power up front to win the league and hopefully some other silverware. His record in Seria A is 38 golas in 65 games

The odds for the Premiership were out and we were made second favourites behind Chelsea at 2-1...

31st July: Our last friendly of the pre season and we faced Celtic at Celtic Park, we were 2-0 up in no time, Celtics cause wasn't helped by them being reduced to ten men. They did defend well but were undone finally by a cracking Rossi goal

Thats the enbd of pre season now for the serious stuff as we faced Palermo in the qualifying round of the Cahmpions league in six days time

6th August: Manchester United v Palermo: Champions League 3rd Qualifying Round 1st Leg

I gave Pazzini his debut and put Rooney into midfield. The game started well as we came out strongly, Pazzini was trying his best to impress me and the fans and it nearly paid off as his shot rolled just past the post. Our first goal came from Drost as he scuffed his cross and it sailed into the top corner, to give him his first goal for the club. His celebration was one for the books. Unfortunately we didn't concentrate and Palermo scored on the 22nd minute, it got better for Palermo as they scored again on the 28th minute. All credit to my players there heads didn't go down as they came foward trying to get the equaliser, which came soon after through Torres. This was a brilliant opening half of our season.
At half time I replaced Pazzini as he was looking quite tired. We went forit early and Palermo looked shocked, it didn't take long for Rossi to put us 3-2 up and in control.Rooney got into the scoring act on the 75th minute to put us 4-2 up, but again our concentration let us down and we concedewd just on the final whislte.

Manchester United 4 - 3 Palermo (Drost 18, Torres 35, Rossi 62, Rooney 75)

7th August: A thrilling game but its a worry that we conceded three away goals, hopefully this wouldn't cost us dearly. Now we had nine days to prepare for the visit of Newcastle. Rossi and Rafael are called into the U.S.A and Brazilian Olympic teams
