*OFFICIAL* FMS Challenge #3 2006-07 - The Uncle Scrooge Challenge
The Uncle Scrooge Challenge
Your club has made a new policy due to the uncertainty in todays transfer market. Due to the huge losses most clubs have to suffer this club has vowed never to get in any financial troubles. To do this a number of restrictions has been laid down.
1) The club will only sign players on free transfers or Bosman transfers.
2) No player will be released on frees until their contract has expired.
3) Players brought in who are on contract with another club may only be signed as part as a player exchange. No money may be paid to the other club.
4) As injuries might strike the manager is allowed to make two signings per year though for whom money is paid. The combined fee for these two players may not exceed £8m though.
Note: Some young players may be on frees but requires a compensation to the mother club. These players may be signed IF the compensation is less than £2m AND a max of £8m may be spend this way in a season.
Managers may NOT start in the topflight. Any club below the top is acceptable though for maximum enjoyment one of the following is recommended:
England: Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Wimbledon.
Spain: Eibar, Ejido
Germany: Babelsberg, Sweinfurt
France: Nice, Cretéil, Martigues
Italy: Sampdoria, Napoli, Fiorentina, Messina
Clubs may not be switched. The goal is to become domestic champions AND win a European trophy, ie Ch. League or UEFA Cup. Show those big spenders how it is done.

Seems unduly generous, no? Undermines the entire challenge, no?

Personally, I don't think you should allowed to buy any players at all. Was also thinking that really, you should have to stay within your alloted wage budget too.
Was also wondering about banning Juve but we'll see how people feel. I feel these challenges are open to slight adaption though so lets see what people think.

That's me buggered then
I'll see what I decide, currently torn in a three-way decision over how to try FM07 out for the first time. It'll eiehter be this challenge, a very involved multi-club story (that could well see me "do a Terk"), or maybe even a foray into *gasp* LLaMa land

I think Bosman players should be acceptable as long as it is within reason. I wasn't keen on the being able to buy £8m worth of players either. I'm a little disappointed that the Hitler challenge didn't get in, but this is a fine second best imo and I shall probably have a crack at this, once the patch comes out, or alternatively on 01-02.

What if the chairman buys a player without your approval? How should that situation be handled?
I'm testing this challenge with Las Palmas and the chairman wanted a high profile player before the first season. He even offered some extra transfer money for it. Luckily a free transfer with a few caps for Brazil was enough to satisfy him.
