Haiti National Squad 2005
Having lost to Guatemala, USA and Mexico, drawn with Trinidad only because Tobago forgot to turn up and magically beaten Costa Rica 1-0 at home it was clear that the current Haiti squad were not really any good. You didn't really
need to know the results to realize that. Mind you, they had been good enough to reach the final qualifying group of the CONCACAF zone. Yet that is hardly saying a lot, it's basically a group of Islands and a couple of big countries who wouldn't know what a football was if hit them on the arse.
There was therefore no real sense of anticipation when Enrique prepared to reveal his first Haiti squad to the world. And there was no real sense of excitement when that squad had been announced, even if there were players there that even people in Haiti had never heard of. Its not as if they were going to be that much better.
Goalkeepers Geteau Ferdinand (31)
Valencia (HAI) He plays for Valencia, but thats about as far as the glamour goes as the club are actually a Haitian side. A fairly decent keeper, but does tend to be a bit slow off the mark.
Morcency Dieudonné (34)
Zenith Cap Hatien At 34 years of age, Morcency is hardly the future of the squad, but a solid enough if nearly pensionable age keeper.
Fenelon Gabart (24)
Racing Club Hatien uncapped. Gabart will probably be first choice for the next qualifying group and might even push in before then. Decent enough keeper, and had age on his side.
defence Roman Genevois (17)
FC Gueugnonnais A young, fairly talented French right back who plays in the French 2nd Division. At least he will when he makes his 1st team debut. Bit of a shock inclusion, but as he will never be good enough to play for France he has made the right choice to come and play for Haiti where he will have the opportunity to win.... well nothing really.
Louisius Nicolas (25)
No Club Is currently 'between clubs', a fairly unexciting right back with fairly little talent. But at least he won't be worn out from playing too many matches.
Jean-Muller Altidor (28)
On loan at Siena from Nacional da Madeira Having made it to Europe, Altidor you would expect must be a half decent left back, which he probably is. Hopefully, as he is first choice.
Mesac Celeste (27)
Cincinati Not exactly the best left back in the world. Probably not the worst, but can be far behind.
Jean-Jacques Pierre (24)
Nantes You would expect that if a player is plying his trade with Nantes and has around 40 caps, he must be fairly decent. Pierre certainly seems to fit the bill as a centre back.
Jonathan Roux (18)
Monaco Fairly average central defender, but he is just 18 years old. Eligible to play for France, but that is never going to happen kid so just accept your fate.
Roosevelt Desir (31)
Genk Another who plays in Europe, he's fairly average at best but still serves a decent enough squad player until someone replaces him. Which could be another 20 years.
David Saincius (30)
Violette Athletic Average to poor defender who can, allegedly, play in the centre or at right back or even in a defensive midfield role. But don't let that fool you into thinking he's any use.
Luckenson Chery (23)
Zenith Cap Hatien To say Chery is bad would be an understatement. Still, looking on the bright side he might never have to play.
Josué Mayard (25)
Vancouver 1 cap. Really, not a very good player but what can you do.
Midfield Wilfrid Montilas (33)
Don Bosco Defensive midfielder, based in Haiti and just how many ways are there to describe crap?
Renel Monpremier (26)
AS Capoise It was a toss up between him and Montilas as to who was selected for the defensive role and Renel lost this time.
Pierre-Roland Saint-Jean (34) [i]La Louviere[/b] Another player based in Belgium, the right winger might be on the older side of the hill in footballing terms, but he's a half decent player.
Jean-Phillipe Peguero (23)
Colorado Should probably be staking a claim to make the right wing his own, a fairly reasonable player, but he can't take corners. Which is bad for a winger. Probably.
Jamil Jean-Jacques (20)
Uruguay Montevideo He's fast, but thats about all he has going for him as he looks to establish himself as the left winger.
Patrick Tardieu (37)
Violette Athletic Will probably be dead soon, but he just about holds onto his place in the squad in light of the fact there are very few left wingers to choose from.
Guillaume Stephan (22)
Tours It's probable that Stephen is not eligible to play for Haiti, but he is a fairly decent attacking midfielder so I'm sure we'll find him a 'Granny' somewhere.
Johnny Descolines (31) [i]La Louviere[/b] Team mate of Pierre-Roland at La Louviere in Belgium, which just goes to show that they are a very poor side.
Attack Wagneau Eloi (31)
Roeselare. He's no Manno Sannon but he is probably the most famous Haitian of his generation and one player who may be reasonable well known in Europe.
Herby Fortunat (23)
Bulle Based in Switzerland, Fortunat is not what you would call a prolific striker, but it's not as if the competition is brilliant either.
Jean Baptiste Filiberti (22)
Bescanon Must have a Haitian granny somewhere becuase we wouldn't include him if he was ineligible now, would we? He's pretty crap anyway.
Jean-Dimmy Jeoboam (18)
Laval Promising young striker who has already made the trek to Europe. Remains to be seen if he can hack it there.
Golman Pierre (34)
Sint Truiden They seem to like Haitian's in Belgium. Pierre is a decent striker and will no doubt have a few more caps to win before he snuffs it.
