Im estatic about the signing of Villa. He may have cost us an arm and a leg, but hes worth every penny. Hes just so clinical in front of goal. He will be a major factor in our pursuit of the Premiership title.
We will make one more significant signing to the first squad and that will be it for us, apart from more youth signings, or unless something falls into our lap.
We have had to sell some fringe players to finance our moves, but we are more than happy with the talent we have brought in. Gabriel Heinz will be furthering his career elsewhere, negotiations are underway with numourous clubs.
Chelsea have been making rediculous claims of interest in Rio. Hes not going anywhere. And even if he were, theres no way we'd allow him to go there.

Well the friendlies have been completed without a single major injury concern. Paul Scholes got knocked about a bit on the Greek leg, but hes fine now. Predictably we took time to gel on the Greek leg with the new players coming in and our new tactical formation, but the time we got to Holland things were started to flow alot more smoothly. That last friendly was a bit of a frolic, mext year we'll match the reserves up against them.
Offensively our finishing was rather ordinary in Greece but improved out of sight later on. Johnson and Villa already have some nice chemistry going and Saha has been outstanding off the bench, netting 11 times. The only disappointing note is the form of Wayne Rooney. His play has been very inconsistant and hes been awful in front of goal.Alot of embarrassing misses Im afraid.
The midfield has been very industrious and creative, everyone has contributed and lots of scoring opportunites created for the strikers, although the quality of the opposition (or lack of it) has to be taken into account. Of the new lads, Anderson and Guardado have stood out. The defence has been solid but practically untested.

Man Utd sign Van der Vaart

Very pleased in getting VDV. Hes young and very gifted and can slot into the first team immediately. We have alot of options in the midfield now, but you cant have too many is my thinking.
Giggs, Ronaldo,VDV, Scholes, Hargreaves, Carrick with exciting prospects Nani, Anderson and Guardado as backup. And Rooney can slot back into any of the attacking roles as well.
Paul Scholes and VDV will rotate in the attacking midfield role. Roma and Spurs have been sniffing around, but Paul is an invaluable experienced team member and hes not going anywhere anytime soon.

Well here we are, tomorrow is the big day. Away at West Ham .Im really looking forward to it. With the way we've trained over the last 2 weeks Im confident of a good result.
The team for tomorrow is:-
GK Van der Sar
RB Neville
DC Ferdinand
DC Vidic
LB Evera
ML Giggs
MC Hargreaves
AMC Scholes
MR Ronaldo
FC Villa
FC Johnston
Reserves
Kuszczak
Ratinho
Pasqual
Rooney
Saha
Villa and Johnston will start up front, theyve developed a good partnership. Saha will come off the bench to cover them if needed. Rooney, while out of form can cover the midfield and he produce the goods Im sure if called upon. Paul Scholes takes the nod over VDV, mainly because of his Premiership experience and the limited time VDV has been with the quad. No surprises with the defence.
