“....And as you can see on the bottom of your television screen, we have breaking news coming from our reporter Nick Collins outside The Stadium Of Light. It appears Roy Keane, Sunderland Manager, has walked out on the club he turned into Championship winners. The Sunderland Chairman, Niall Quinn has issued a statement; “Sunderland Associated Football Club are sorry to say that we have parted company with Roy Keane, Sunderland Ex-Manager. We are unsure on why he has wished to depart the club, however, he handed in his letter of resignation and it was very sadly accepted by the Club. However, we wish him well in his future life and we have to now start looking to find a new manager for the club.” |

It was around a week later from the Roy Keane departure and as first team coach, I arrived at the club with the intention of getting the team out on to the training pitch and making them on focus the football side, not the recent news of the depearture of Roy Keane and his assistant, Tony Loughlan which they were all still shocked about especially the new signings of Craig Gordon and Dickson Etuhu. Instead of my normal routine, I had had a message left at Reception to go upto the Chairman’s Office for a meeting scheduled in just 10 minutes. With a look of suprise and shock on my face, I walked towards the lift and stepped in.
Around 30 half an hour later, (25 minutes of me walking up and down a room pondering what was wrong.) “You can go in now Sir” came from behind a desk. It was Mrs. Byrne, the secretary. Nervously, I opened the door and walked in to see Niall Quinn, John Hayes and Peter Walker smiling towards my general direction. “Hello there, Marc! How are you today?” came from the familliar voice of the Chairman as I shook his hand. “I’m erm fine thanks sir.” I was very nervous as they probably had guessed. After shaking the others hand’s, I sat down in a chair seated opposite Niall Quinn. “As you should already know – Who doesnt know I thought to myself – Roy has left the club as he was demanding things that were beyond our reach. So, he left the club to look for another club who could meet his demands.” Said Quinn “We’re looking to the future though and after discussions with other candidates, we wished to interview you.” Said Hayes “Erm, How come I’m in contention for the job, I’ve no experience, I’m only 38 and I heard we were in talks with Carlos Quieroz for- “Carlos was not right for the job so we passed him up. Well, actually he rejected us as we did not offer him a contract straight away” Quinn cut accross me. “We’ve learned from our mistakes and we would like to offer you a contract now with imminent affect.” I nearly fell of my chair! I could not believe I was hearing this! Me, Sunderland manager! “You will be given, £15,250 a week and a contract of only one year but with the option of another few years if you meet expectations for the club” I was in Heaven! Although, it was only 1 year I was sure I could get the extra years that was an option on my contract. “Errrrrr, how much would I have to spend on players in the transfer market?” “Around £3 Million and a wage budget of £239,000 p/w” There was silence in the room. I then plucked up my courage and said “Yes, I agree to the terms” This was to the delight of the people around me and Niall said “Excellent, The contract has already been drawn up, if you would just like to sign here and here and here and at the bottom, then you will be the manager of Sunderland Football Club. After everything was signed and hands were shook, I was told to be back at the stadium for a press conference tommorow at 12'0 clock and I had the day off today. I left the room with a broad grin on my face and as soon as the car door closed behind me, all you could here was YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS SS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Q: Why should you be the Sunderland Manager?
A: Well, I've been a lifelong supporter of the Club and I know the club inside out seeing that I've worked here for ten years and played for the youth team.
Q:What are your plans for the season?
A: Well, We are favourites for the drop but I believe we can stay up easily as we have enough quality in the squad.
Q: You've never managed a club though, how can you be able to just take over a club of Sunderland's stature?
A: Erm, what experience did Roy Keane have?
Q: Do you have any signings in mind?
A: Yeah, But Why wold I tell you now?
Q: Well, where do you look to strengthen in the team?
A: Dont see that as any of your business
"Marc has taken enough of your questions now, that will be enough for the day."
Me, Niall and John Hayes stoood up and walked out of the room.

I sat down and looked at my Squad list and My Staff List. Decided straight away that I would need another one or two scouts and a coach so adverts were placed for them. Looking at my squad I wrote down some notes about them all; The Squad
Goal Keepers
Craig Gordon - Summer Signing made by Roy Keane - 1st Choice Keeper
Darren Ward - 2nd Choice, his experience would be vital
Marton Fulop - He is back-up and will be put on the transfer list to try and raise my funds.
Full/Wing Backs
Greg Halford - I liked him, He would be my first choice for Right Back
Ross Wallace - He's a pacey, tricky player and can play as a midfielder also. My first choice as left back if I could not find a replacement
Clive Clarke - Back-up and Transfer listed
Danny Collins - Same as Clive Clarke
Central Defenders
Paul McShane - He was already a full international and only 20. He would be my heart of the defence. Vice-Captain.
Russell Anderson - Had been captain at Aberdeen where he was signed from. Had good experience and would make up the CB positions... probably
Nyron Nosworthy - Fan Favourite and I liked him would be able to play RB if Halford got injured. He will be fighting to get the CB place off Anderson.
Stan Varga - Back-Up and Transfer Listed
Defensive Midfielders
Dicksn Etuhu - A big, strong, fast playe. He would be a shield to the back four and would be in the starting eleven.
Graham Kavanagh - Back-Up and Transfer Listed
Central Midfielders
Dean Whitehead - My captain. Need I say more
Liam Miller - Can play Centre or on the right. Will be third choice for the centre.
Grant Leadbitter - A brilliant prospect and a local lad. He will be a part of the team
Wingers
Carlos Edwards - First Choice for the right. Fast, Tricky and has the best aim in the team.
Kieran Richardson - This is the season where he has to show his worth. Signed from Man You. WILL be starting in the eleven
Tobias Hysen - I think he is a decent player. However, I've got better, therefore, transfer listed
Roy O'Donovan - I have never seen the lad play, but have had good reports from him.
Forwards
Michael Chopra - The fastest player on the team. Probably in the strating eleven
Daryl Murphy - Proved his worth last season with very good and important goals. Probably start
Stern John - Back-Up and Transfer Listed
Anthony Stokes - The best 18 year old forward since Wayne Rooney in my opinion. Could be a starter.
David Connolly - Good Experience and will be kept only for that reason.
Well I think I need;
Left-Back
Target Man
Attacking Midfielder
Transfer Listed Were;
Billy Dennehy
Stern John
Clive Clarke
Danny Collins
Graham Kavanagh
Tobias Hysen

To celebrate the tenth Season at The Satdium Of Light, Sunderand have managed to arrange a friendly against the best team in the world. The likes of Lionel Messi,Ronaldinho, Carlos Puyol will be visitng Sunderland. Also, Thierry Henry will return to the place where he was given a standing ovation when he left the pitch as an arsenal substitute. The match will take place a week before the start of the season, where Sunderland will have to play away to their deadly rivals Newcastle in the first game of the season. "It's a great occasion for the club. To face a club like Barcelona is amazing and will always sell out the stadium." said Marc Allan, The Sunderland Manager.

It is believed that Marc Allan has offered Andy Cole a 2 year contract. Andy Cole would be more than likely happy to accept the contract as he is without a club. Also, it is believed that Sunderland have made a million pound bid for Hibs Left-Back David Murphy.

Experienced Premiership Forward Andy Cole has signed for Sunderland on a free transfer. Cole has made 15 appearences for England, scoring 1 goal. He has been released by Man City recently. He is believed to off been given £3,500 a week for a year. This could signal the end of Stern John's career at Sunderland. Marc Allan is believed to of ended his intrest in David Murphy also.
| The signing of And Cole was brilliant news as he would be able to tutor youngsters and will also provide good back-up. Also, I still had my whole budget to spend but did not need a target man no more. Brilliant deal for the club. Also with, his best mate, Dwight Yorke, playing for the club he will be able to settle in pretty easily.

Can I just say, I'm sorry for the constant spelling mistakes. I'll actually read to see if there's any mistakes after it's written. |

From www.skysports.com Busy Few Days For Black Cats
Marc Allan, may be inexperienced, but has been bringing in the signings. Yesterday, he brought in Nicklas Bendtner on loan. The 18 year old is to spend all season on loan at Sunderland after Arsene Wenger told him he is not ready for first team action. This signing came after Allan praised Wenger's managing ability.Today, Eddie Johnson joined for £1 million from Kansas City Wizards in America. He is 22 and has made 19 appearences for America, scoring 9 goals.Ray Hall and Stefano Eranio, both coaches came in, Hall from Everton and Eranio from Milan suprisingly enough. Wayne Turner, a scout also came in from Palace.

Due to me wrapping up these signings today, I was not able to visit or have any input on the match at Southend. It ended 3-0 with Bendtner opening the scoring on his debut for Sunderland Connolly nabbing two goals. I have made an enquiry for Sir Alex Ferguson at Burnley and have made an offer to loan Mikael Silvestre from Manchester United after Sir Alex Ferguson told sky sports that we would stay up and I returned the favour by saying that he has done a very good job and has turned Manchester United into the biggest club in England. I hope to bring in possibly three more signings before the game against Newcastle. As I lay in bed looking up at the ceilig with my mind thinking about my day's work my phone rang. I jumped out of bed and picked it up and answered. "Hello" "Erm, Yeah hello, is this Marc Allan" came a slightly recognisable voice down the phone. "Depends, who wants to know?" "It's Erm, Tony...Tony Loughlan" "And why would you be ringing me?" "I was wondering if erm, I could have my old job back?" "Well, you'll be taking a pay cut if you want your job back" "Yeah, Yeah, It's No Problem" "Right, so if you phone me or come to the house about 7ish tommorow night we'll iron out a contract for you." "Yeah, thanks Marc it means a lot to me, Cya Later" "Bye."

From www.news.bbc.co.uk Sunderland get Benoit
Sunderland's Left Back crisis is finally over as they have snapped up Benoit Assou-Ekotto on loan from Londoners Tottenham. Ekotto had been told he would not even be third choice for a place in the Tottenham team. He will be at Sunderland till the end of the season. In other news for the club, they have announced a link with the Belgium team FCN Sint-Niklaas. Sunderland can send players on loan to FCN to wait for the players Work Permits to come through.
