Sunderland vs. Manchester Utd

23rd August

Eddie Johnson was ruled out for the next two weeks after he twisted an ankle in training.

Same line-up; apart from Chopra replacing Johnson.

The game's first chance came as early as the 7th minute. Stokes was adjudged to of fouled Ronaldo just outside the box. Rooney stepped up and hit it, took a big deflection off Whitehead and spun out of Gordon's reach and into the net. Manchester United now that they were one in front looked to just frustrate and score on the counter it worked well...for twenty minutes. We won a corner again and this time Halford found Bendtner at the near post and he knocked it down past the legs of Van Der Sar. 1 All. Just ten minutes before the break Craig Gordon made a brilliant save. Ronney slipped it past McShane and tried to bend it over Gordon but Gordon managed to tip it away only for Ronaldo to run onto it and smack it towards the goal before Gordon lunged towards the line to palm it to Halford who cleared it. Craig Gordon was showing why he was the record signing for Sunderland. In the 43rd minute, I was fuming with the referee. Anderson apparently hanballed when you could clearly see it hit his chest. Anyway, Ronaldo stepped up and he saw his penalty saved by Gordon only for him to knock it in on the rebound. The second goal we unluckily conceded. At half time I told them to win the first ball and battle hard. It didnt matter as Man You hung on despite a late shot from Chopra bouncing of the bar and away. I felt with Kieran and Eddie in the team we could of walked away with at least a point.

MoM: Cristiano Ronaldo

Sun'land's MoM: Greg halford - Created the goal and did well against Darren Fletcher on the right hand side.

"WHAT THE F**K WAS THAT" I screamed at my players "CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THE F**K THAT F**KING WAS!?!?" "Calm Down, Boss" Tony aid quietly. "CALM DOWN, CALM F***ING DOWN, THAT WAS THE WORST THING I'VE EVER SEEN!!" "Dickson, good show, you played well I thought. RIGHT, WHY COULD NONE OF YOU PLAY AS WELL AS DICKSON!!!. RIGHT, GET DRESSED AND ON THE BUS PRONTO!"

The lads walked out of the dressing room towards the bus. We had been totally outplayed by Blackburn today, without Dickson, we would of conceded at least four. At least next game Kieran's back and possibly Eddie. We need points desperately!

A good start to the season for Man Utd as they picked up all the awards on offer.

Wayne Rooney won player of the month, with Tim Cahill coming second and Nemanja Vidic coming third.

Cristiano Ronaldo won young Player of The Month, Daniel Agger came second and Gary Cahill came third.

Sir Alex Ferguson won Manager Of The Month as they won all three games this month, including a 2-0 win over Chelsea.

Oh and I forgot to mention Arsenal's Gail Clichy scored the goal of the month as he hit a long range curling effort.
