Before I start the story i'd just like to say a few things.

Also the whole game is fictional and no I am not American I'm Fully English


Chapter 1
“No Tom I can’t take this job” I said fuming up a little bit
“Dan you’ve managed The Dallas Stars and The Texas Rangers under my reign why not Liverpool?” Said Tom Hicks

I couldn’t believe I was in this situation.

“Because Tom the reason I left these clubs were because you interfered and I can’t work with you again”
“ Dan were in a real pickle no one wants to manage the club after Benitez’s scathing attack we need someone of you’re caliber and you’re an official UEFA coach so why not?”
“Tom I’ve told you twice know I only took the UEFA badges as i'm looking in investing a club once I’ve retired the same as you did”
“You’re English Dan we need a good English manager in there please help us out”
“I moved over to America when I was four I was brought up to call it soccer and I was made to play baseball so naturally I’m not a big fan of the game”
“Please consider Dan all decisions will be made between me and George. He owns 50% I own 50% we both have to agree on decisions and I will promise there will be no interfering.”
“I don’t think I can do this again tom not after the Texas disaster that was the last straw”
“That was a thing of the past and were looking at the most dominant force in English soccer”
“FOR F**K SAKE TOM IT’S FOOTBALL NOT F*****G SOCCER” I Fumed I still had the English blood.
“That’s the flair were looking for Dan please consider”

After a 4 hour chat and 6 bottles of champagne I decided to take the job

“Thank you Dan we will fax the details through ASAP”

And with that I went to the accommodation Tom was paying for and put my head to rest.

Chapter 2

Damn I yelled as I realized what happened the night before.
I can’t believe I took another job under Tom Hicks previous disasters drove me away from him but after taking a look at the illustrious history of Liverpool I couldn’t turn it down.

Just then I received a phone call from tom himself.

“Tom about last night”

“Yes Dan thanks for accepting. Anyway id like to call a meeting down at The Anfield
Arena today to sort out some details”

“I thought you said you would fax them to me Tom?”

“Yes but that hasn’t gone to plan”

“Tom you can’t stick to anything can you?”

“Dan just be down there for 2:00pm”

“But that’s in 3 hours and i’m in the middle of no where.”

“I’ve sorted out a cab it will pick you up at 1”

“Ok Ok” and with that I pressed the red button my cell phone and began to ponder about the great things I think I can achieve. I then realized that an hour was cut short due to the cab and went to shower and freshen up.

The Cab arrived bang on 1 and with me passing the Keycard to the lovely receptionist I walked through the plaza doors and jumped in the cab.

Chapter 3

I arrived at a massive complex something I’ve never seen before.
A massive red bird was dawned in the middle of an embodied shield I was completely amazed.

I then saw Tom and was snapped back into reality

“Nice to see you again Dan”

“Let’s cut to the chase Tom”

“Well let’s go inside then”

After a tour of the stadium which left my mouth wide open with amazement I decided to bring up the negotiations and straight away he led me to a small but tidy office.
The flash computer was home to a slick silver desk with the front board all black with The Liverpool Logo Tattooed on it.

Tom then slipped me a folder. I unzipped it and took out the contents.
After skim reading I decided enough was enough I took the pen and signed the dotted line.

“A press conference will be held tomorrow at lunch”

“But where what how”

“Huh” Tom said with a disgruntled voice

“Well where am I supposed to stay?”

“The Plaza were else?”

“But I fought that was for 1 night’

Tom broke into laughter
“For one whole year Dan did you think we would make you live on the streets”

“But I handed in my keycard”

“well get it back then its registered in you’re name”

“But what about my clothes I’ve only for this suit it hasn’t even been washed”

“Did you red the contract?
There’s a 60,000 Pound sign on fee. 60,000 English Pounds was inserted into you’re bank the second you put pen to paper.
“Oh” I replied amazingly shocked

“so go and enjoy and I expect to see you tomorrow at 12”

“Tom”

“Yes Dan”

“Thanks”

And with that I left happy as Larry and withdrew a large amount of money and bought clothes and food and went back to the plaza to get a long nights rest.

Chapter 4

As I arrived I saw a tall blonde person doing what seemed to be an impression of the robot and from first impressions I knew this lot was a cracking bunch of lads and we would get along well.

I didn’t get to meet the players as I got ushered straight to my office

“Wow Tom how can you afford this”

“That is for me to know Dan. are you impressed?”

By looking at my office I was under the illusion this was a dream the glass wall right at the front gave me a great view of all the training pitches. I was itching to get out there and mingle but knew the time would come. There were many chairs and pictures all with the Liverpool logo and many television screens and best of all a High Tech Super Sonic Computer. Also a microphone to call the players when I needed them. There was also a door on the left side of the wall and as we walked through I saw a receptionist and a waiting room.

Then Tom insisted we ordered a meeting in the players lounge but I wanted to go out and meet them on the training pitch so being uncommon I decided to do it my way.

“Morning Gaffer” said a tall brown haired stocky lad. He had a number on his shirt and shorts his was 23.

“Hi there how are you all?” I replied

“Fine ta up for a cuppa though when break? Asked a tall dirty blonde haired lad his number was 8.

“Why are you trying to impersonate my American accent I can talk as gooda English as you all can” trying to see the funny side.

“Erm Dan that’s not American that’s scouse. A term you will have to get used to” said Tom

“Oh” I blushed

The team was in hysterics.

“Right go for a cuppa lads and ill meet you back here in 20 minutes and we can get to know each other a little better”

And as I finished the sentence the lads walked off towards what seemed to be the changing rooms.

“Well all went well Tom”

“Yes Dan it did. I’ve gave you a tour of all the stadium and training and youth facilities and it’s about time I go home to America to visit my family the club is in yours and Ricks hands until I get back”

I was stunned

“Who’s Rick? And when will you come back?”

“Don’t worry there’s a meeting tonight at 8pm at Rick’s house a cab will be there at the plaza to pick you up at 6:30pm and the whole of the backroom staff will be there”

“This Rick must be pretty rich if he can fit 30odd people in there”

“its only how you will be in the future Dan and ill be seeing you later well 3 weeks later”

And with that I was stood pondering what to do next

Chapter 5

6:30 was edging closer and closer I had a chat to the squad but didn’t ask for the names or any details I was just happy to be in their company for 10 minutes. It was about time I freshened up.
I sat down on the 6 seated sofa and just thought about the job ahead. I would miss my family but it was only a 1 year contract, it was most likely a stand in job until they find someone better. I felt a better man knowing I was taking over a mass Red Empire. The cabs horn woke me up out of the very detailed dream and with that I walked out the door and took the elevator to the ground floor.
I stepped into the cab and the driver greeted me;

“oryt der laa ow ya doin?”

“I’m fine thank you how are you? do you know where were going?”

“I’m sound as a pound an yer im the clubs personal driver take the foreigners around an about, took Torres to the training ground once”

“Torres?” I enquired

“you’ll see son you’ll see”

I was puzzled but hopefully some questions will be answered tonight

After a long drive we came up to a tall private gate. The house behind was enormous and after the driver exchanged words with the telecom the gates opened and I was rushed into the building.

The chandelier was of the bird on the clubs crest and names were tattooed around the walls. I read many but the ones that stuck out were Emlyn Hughes and Kenneth Dalglish. I was then ushered into a small meeting room.

Chapter 6

I left the meeting knowing all of my staff and players. I left a happy man. In the briefcase I was given there was folder after folder containing reams of paper.
One had New Anfield plastered on it and on the drive home I ran through most of it.
The new stadium design was definitely a Tom Hicks production and the squad and expectations I viewed were top notch.
As I was bedded into the club it was mentioned that the coaching staff will still take hold of training as I sort matters off the pitch.
I was also given an 8Million Pound transfer kitty to toy with for the purchase of new players.

As the days went on I learnt a lot about football I obviously heard of Steven Gerrard before but just couldn’t picture his face the other day when he asked for a cuppa but I’ve learnt and have talked to the whole bunch of lads.

I then got passed a folder which filled me in about all the lads;

After a quick skim read I went out on the training pitch to perform my own analyses.

I then assessed the squad;

The Squad For The 06/07 Season

Pepe Reina A top quality shot stopper was bought from villareal in for the 05/06 season. I knew he would be my #1

Charles Itandje My #2 would not push Pepe out of the starting line up. Will hopefully apply the pressure though.

Alvaro Arbeloa A decent right back can also be used in the center. Looked useful.

Jamie Carragher Part 1 of the clubs talisman. Was the undisputed 1st choice center back.

Daniel Agger Young strong central defender would definitely be a useful member of the squad.

Sami Hyypia Tall, Veteran at the back. Provided good cover.

Steve Finnan I’ve been told the most underrated right back on this planet. Looking good.

Fabio Aurelio Been told he’s the first Brazilian to grace this club. I like the look of this player. Definitely in my first team plans.

John Arne Risse Can play on the wing or at the back. Great purchase by Houllier.

Javier Mascherano Tipped as the future Argentina captain. Going to be in my first team plans

Mohammed Sissoko Great Anchorman. Will be useful.

Xabi Alonso Tipped as the greatest passer in the game. Will be looking closely at this one.

Lucas Branded as the next Kaka and after watching videos on Kaka it seems this Brazilian play maker will do the job. Not in my plans this year though will need to be loaned out.

Yossi Benayoun The little man Is known for tearing defenses apart with his unique vision from the wing. Looks a promising prospect.

Steven Gerrard Part 2 of the clubs talisman. Already an Anfield Legend. I’m relishing the prospect of seeing him rip open the Premier League.

Jermaine Pennant A fast right winger who can deliver a ball from any angle. Never been capped for the full England squad. I’ll be making him work to change that.

Harry Kewell Loving the reports I’ve received from my coaches. Definitely going to be used this season.

Peter Crouch What a funny name for a 6ft 7 monster. Many teams will not be expecting this guy.

Fernando Torres The clubs record buy. A real predator infront of goal.

Dirk Kuyt A Battling Lion will not give anything up and I feel a lot safer with him in my squad

Andriy Voronin Arrived on a free. Can score the goals needed and just before Benitez left he said in an interview that he’s a very clever player. Will be very useful.



So there’s a break down of the squad and were looking very very strong. I predict a great season ahead.

Chapter 7

As I was sat in my office on my PSP trying to work out some tactics I was interrupted by a knock on my door,

COME IN I yelled and in stepped my assistant PAKO AYESTARAN.

“Dan we’ve got a long pre season ahead and I’m here to help sort out a couple of friendlies”

“I’ve been waiting for this Pako, who are the possibilities?”

“Well Rafa already booked them before you stepped in Dan and they will begin on Saturday with us hosting Valencia in what will be a fiery encounter”

“Isn’t that who Rafa left to manager”

“yes his previous club also, anyway here’s a full list of friendlies and when are you available to take you’re first training session?”

“I see no problem in tomorrow but remember Pako there’s a players meeting tomorrow down at the players lounge isn’t there?”

“Yes Dan do you want me to run you through it?”

“yes please”

“well all the players and staff all meet to have a meal and a few beers and you then announce the expectations the captain Etc Etc”

“I’ve already got all that planned “I said grinning slyly

Then a tour of Portugal;

A 10 day trip to Portugal will be a great bonding trip and will hopefully make the team become more of a unit.

“Also Pako I believe all I think I can about football I’ve learnt every rule and know every player by face I believe its time we talk tactics”

“I agree we should meet soon how about Friday?”

“that’s excellent Pako well meet here at 2:30pm after training how does that sound?”

“good good I best get back to the players and get the next drill ready”

“Ill talk to you later Pako”

“Goodbye”

And with that he left and I felt a lot better I felt secure and with the help of the squad we can achieve miracles. I wanted to make Liverpool untouchable and everyone would have to submit. Even with the spending power of Roman I know tom will back me in every aspect and with that I left the office and went for a meeting with rick down in his office.

“Hey Rick how’s it going”

“Fine Dan take a seat”

“Thank you”

“well were here Dan to talk through the expectations one on one, we want the premiership brought home a day out at Wembley would be nice and also a good run in Europe would give us a great boost Dan”

“All can be done Rick, also what do you think about the player Guti? He seems experienced and could be very useful for me I’m also looking in at a young player named Lionel Messi I believe I don’t have sufficient funds but would like your view on a future transfer.”

“Guti would be a great buy and with him only valued at 6.4million im sure he will be easy enough to purchase and Messi well he’s a different class and after a few words with tom im sure he would love to see the player at the club but this year he’s already splashed 27Million on Fernando Torres so I doubt it will be this year Dan”

“I understand Rick and thanks”

“Also Dan this is for you its for personal and club use its all your’s it’s a high speed machine and cost the club over 4000pounds but we always want our manager to have one at his side so here”

He handed over a laptop and with that I said goodbye and left the building.

After hours of thought I believed that Guti didn’t need to be purchased and was happy with my squad I thought I best save the money for next year.

As I left the building I thought I best have one more look around the stadium and after 3 hours I felt a lot different. This ground was home to many European triumphs like St Etienne and The Chelsea Semi Final with the was it wasn’t it goal.

I then felt I had to look at the new stadium design and sat down in the Kop reading the folder. The floodlights were gleaming as the Groundskeeper still had a lot of work to do I predicted he wouldn’t be home until the early hours so I went down and entertained him.

We chatted for a few hours while he was marking the pitch and he got talking about the New Stadium he urged me to keep the name as Anfield and I said I’d bring it up at the next board meeting.

This new stadium was great and slick and with that I walked down the Tunnel and stood in the media corner pretending I was getting interviewed,

I then saw a small grey haired man walk down and to my amazement it was George

“Exactly what I did on my first day here Dan”

“What you’ve been watching me” I said embarrassed

“all the time Dan I believe you’re the man to take this club forward please don’t let me down”

And with that he walked through and down the tunnel touching the ever famous This Is Anfield sign on his way down.

I felt it was time to go to my makeshift home and with that I pulled out my cell phone and called my personal Cab Driver he didn’t seem happy coming out at 11pm but that’s life for ya
