Following this appointment, American Owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks unveiled former Liverpool FC striker, Michael Owen as a new signing in a press conference. The hitman is believed to be signed in a £12.8 million deal

In the post match conference, King Kenny hailed Luis Garcia as the key player of the match. He said "Luis showed great vision by creating both Kuyt and Owen's goal. I am happy to have a player like him in my team"
