A slight gripe and suggestion for future releases - though not sure how workable it might be...
So nowadays most (but not all) premiership teams field reserve/youth sides in the early carling cup rounds, some even all the way through. Certainly Arsenal, Man U and Liverpool all use this competition primarily to blood youngsters and give some backup players a run out...
So it's a little irritating and a tad unrealistic when my WBA team (first season, still in the Conference) come up against Man U in their first game in the Cup and they're fielding Tevez, Rooney, Scholes, Ronaldo, Vidic, Ferdinand... basically all the big boys.
Would be nice to see the top teams fielding more youngsters in this comp in the future??

Man United who won the competiton in 2005 fielding a strong team thoughout perhaps they thought you are a good side
Sure. But the same Man U who crashed out against Coventry this year fielding youngsters! Also think the majority of the games in their 2005 cup run were played by a partly reserve/youth team, and then the senior players came in for the final and maybe semi/quarters too... I stand to be corrected though...
I played Man Utd as Southend in the FA cup and half their team was made up of reserves.
Thats a fair mirror of what they did when we played them a year ago in the Carling cup, they played Ronaldo and Rooney, plus a lot of reserves. And lost.
I think the AI is programmed to play the strongest team in all competitions. To set a type of lineup to field in different competitions might be a bit hard to program.
Besides, decades down the line, teams like Man U may not even be giants anymore, and could even count on the League Cup as their only hope of silverware. Do they still field youngsters then?
