The scenario is this. I send my scouts out, they come back with players. I filter this list with players my assistant thinks would join realistically, as I'm sure we all do. I get promoted, and I re-check the filtered list. It stays exactly the same, and it stays that way until the new season ticks over and I'm officially recognised as being in the next division. By then I have inevitably lost out on out of contract targets, because the game still deems me to be in the lower division right until the fixtures come out.

Why do potential targets not recognise promotion? If I get promoted with six games to go, then any player I target should see where I'm going to be playing next season at that point, rather than check the papers when the fixtures come out and go "oh, they're in that division now? I didn't know that."

yes that is so true i hate this! Officially your not considered in the league above and your repuattion dosnt get tagged on until after!

Id also like to see a leap in repuatation if you get promoted 3 or 4 seasons in sucessesion, because i think people would be hearing about you and your ability and thinking that your going to get into the highest league before long

Are you talking about scout reports, or the player search?

The scout reports are reports made at that particular moment. They don't change no matter where your team is. If you want an updated scout report you have to scout the player again. It's like saying that your grade school book reports should automatically update now that you know bigger words and have better grammar.

As for the player search, it does indeed update with higher quality players as your club gets bigger.

I know it does update/expand as my club gets bigger, I'm talking about the timing of it - it should expand as soon as I get promoted, not towards the end of June.

And scout reports stay the same I know, but I am asking my assistant manager to filter out unrealistic targets, so it shouldn't matter when the reports have been made.

I agree with the original post! As a manager of several lower league teams it's always annoying to see talent taken in the off-season following a promotion, where you're still regarded as a team of your promoted-from division. Many talented players choose other teams because they don't want to 'go a division down' - when in fact they might actually join a just relegated team because of it...

i thin kwhat he means is that your repuattion suddenly jumps when the official end of season is instead of players aknowledging that the team has been promoted

Are you also playing with the new patch? I know the patch fixes an issue with the board where they now recognise that you've, for example, won the league with 4 matches to go. I don't know if this extends into other parts of the game, but it might.

To be honest i've never noticed the list staying the same after i've been promoted. Sometimes i have to wait until the season actually ends its final matchday (which, as i said, might be fixed with this new patch), but i could definitely sign bigger players before the fixture list comes out.

Gotta agree with Chas. Scout reports only change if you re-scout.
If I was Burnley manager, it might say Dean Windass is awesome and urge me to sign him.
If I then became Juventus manager, I would still get this same report urging me to buy him. If I re-scouted, the report would be ohhhhhh so different.

The point he is making is how comes when you get promotion players dont acknowlege this until the start of the next season.

ie, you get promoted from the championship to the premiership but players wont acknowledge you are now a premiership club until the next season starts so you miss out on players etc.

Fair enough.
Or maybe they do acknowledge this, but see them going straight back down again. So why should they be interested? Can't remember so many players being interested in signing for Derby in the summer.
