| Have you tried lowering his creative freedom and getting rid of the free role. As you pointed out that's probably why he's taking so many crappy shots.
I had an amc shoot 17 times in one game after I patched so I had to tweak it.

kalou and wright phillips do very good for me in the game. joe cole doesnt even get a chance to play at the right mc position.

Yeah, I'll try that, Mr T.
Game engine doesn't seem to like my setup. 
I'll probably sell and replace vanderVaart with a tough midfield enforcer with high work rate.

| i have same problem with van der vaart - bought him for liverpool and he is pooh! Will try lower CF and see if he stops shooting from th e half way line all the time - reminds me of laurent robert!!

| play him as mc with an arrow going upto thw strikers...i got him for free with manunited and his long shots are great...4 in 13 matches  | |

Aside from me, James Milner starts out quite underrated, regarded by the assistant as the weak link in the team.
Also, Van Der Vaart poo? He's fast becming a new CM/FM legend, always an essential purchase. Usually outscores my attackers.

RVD is bloody good. I have tried 5 games and he always win some award ( at least one : xxx player of the season ) at the end of the season.
how about jus giving him all average creative freedom, shooting and through pass + free role? Work for me on both non and with patch
