Default Exposure problems

I am not sure where the problem may be. In the camera or Photoshop.
Photo on the left is how it is downloaded from the camera and what it looks like when loaded into PS7.
Photo on the right is how it looks on the LCD screen on the camera (Pentax *istD) and also how it looks after auto color is applied in PS7.

All the photos I take look great in review on camera LCD but show up in PS7 way under exposed.
I was wondering if there is a perference in PS7 I am missing or do you think this is camera issue? I have posted to the *istD forum but have not gotten a reply yet.

Default Exposure problems

Seems I may have found the solution and will pass it on to anyone else who might be interested.
It seems there may be a problem of setting the proper white balance in the camera before shooting. I did not know you could set a custom white balance. Will be trying it out tomorrow.

Hi George04,

Welcome to the forum!

I have limited knowledge of digital cameras (I have an older Olympus C3030Z) but the white balance would do what you have shown. In addition to trying Auto Color, try using the Levels to adjust your pics. Most simply, Layer > Adjustment Layer > Levels... The two most basic tools are the historam sliders and eyedroppers. First, move the sliders beneath the Histogram until they just begin to touch the rise (#1). The available droppers are Black Point, Grey Point, and White point (#2). Choose one of the droppers and click on a representative area in your image which corresponds to the dropper. This is the quickest way to correct contrast and color cast without changing the pixel data of the original image capture.

Hi George! I was wondering: are you using Adobe Camera RAW or are those files JPGS?
