There are a lot of negative threads on the new game, so I'd like to explore a different angle.

I'm awaiting imminent delivery of FM2008, so will be able to immediately patch up and go, but I'm still enjoying my final FM07 campaign.

So my question to you all is this:

Of all the new features in FM08, which ones do you find notable improvements on FM07, as opposed to cosmetic, minor or backward steps?

Just the substantial positives please, although feel free to say 'none' if that's your honest view.

I absolutely LOVE the "Best Eleven" feature.

And the fact that the stats given are "all time", rather than just league is a step forward. All they need to now is introduce "all time stats elsewhere" .

I love the confidence feature, it just needs alot of tweaking. The idea behind it is great but signings needs to be more accurate and long term achievements should mean more.

Confidence feature was needed and very important unlike many of the other minor stuff. Unfortunately, some aspects of it don't work the way they should. But with a bit of tweaking, SI can get this right and it'll be a great addition to the game.

There are other features I like however...

The used colour scheme!

I know lots of people actual complain about it, it’s too “queer”, but from a usability point of view it’s much better. A light background, with a dark font is giving the best contrast, is enhancing the readability and reducing the fatigue level when using it a longer time.

Other smart little things are by instance in lists: they use another slighter background colour for the odd list items compared to the even list items, which is enhancing the readability and making retrieving of items much easier.

I like FaceGen as well. People in general memorize faces better as names. It’s also making staff and player profiles more personal. It are no longer just abstract names, but ‘real’ people.

However, I still have to click too much around. SI should focus even more on usability to reduce the clicking…
The more you click, the more risks for RSI. It’s also enhancing the fatigues level, it’s influencing the game speed experience and thus all directly the motivation to continue gaming/

From a functional level, I like it the possibility to change the salary/transfer-budget level, but it should be improved. On financial level lots more could be arranged by, us, the managers:

•Loans: Getting new loans, paying off old loans faster, changing the loan time frame
•Switching budgets between: marketing, building new facilities or stadium expansions, salaries, transfers

Match Flow isn’t bad, but I already did most of this in FM2007, by checking more or less the same information Match Flow is providing me.

Fan Day. Nice too have, but that’s not the killing feature, isn’t?

Confidence: Nice.

Expanded Media: Not that nice. Sometimes I have the feeling I’m playing a press manager instead of a footy.

Theres new features? I thought this year was just a data update!

Just kidding but this version is seriously lacking in new features to previous versions, but for me i just love facegen i dreamed of a feature like this for years.

I really enjoy the more in-depth options we have with training and tactics... oh wait. :o

But I do like the confidence thingy - even though it need tweeking as a lot of posters have pointed out.

Just hoping for more than a fixed confidence module for next season

I like the international management now more then in previous games.
The calender is a nice touch but still needs some work i feel. would be great if it kept the scores in them of the games that passed.
Also the fact that we now can create notes and sub folders to place them in.
The improved interaction between yourself and your assman is also something i like.
But by miles the face gen is my fav! :cool:
