Default The shots/goals ratio argument

I am playing with peterborough united and i've been keeping a close eye on the stats.

Here's a few games match stat's.

Dover 3 Peterborough 3

Shots: Dover 9 Peterborough 21
On Target: Dover 4 Peterborough 7

TNS 1 Peterborough 2

Shots: TNS 13 Peterborough 13
On Target: TNS 6 Peterborough 6

Peterborough 2 Bradford 1

Shots: Peterborough 13 Bradford 18
On Target: Peterbrough 8 Bradford 8

Peterborough 2 Darlington 3

Shots: Peterborough 5 Darlington 14
On Target: Peterborough 2 Darlington 8

Accrington 2 Peterborough 2

Shots: Accrington 13 Peterborough 18
On Target: Accrington 5 Peterborough 8

Stockport 2 Peterborough 1

Shots: Stockport 8 Peterborough 4
On Target: Stockport 7 Peterborough 2

The shots on target to goal ratio is very good, i know in some games there are quite a lot of shots but most of them are off target, looking at these stats is the shots to goals ratio really a problem? as it looks ok to me and it is not biased either.

I'm with you on this one.

I haven't experienced any problems. True, sometimes you do lose the odd game where you've completely dominated and had loads of shots on target, but that's football.

Generally speaking in my game this has not been an issue. I'll throw the word "tactics" in to see how many people kick off about it not being tactics!

To me it's the amount of shots rather than the shots to goal ratio that seems over the top. In previous incarnations of the game, if my team registered 10 (7) shots, then that represented a game where we created plenty of chances. Now, i've seen those figures after 20 minutes. Ending a game with 30+ shots, 20 of which were on target, is a lot.

I don't have a problem with my team creating hundreds of chances, but when I have 24 shots on goal, 17 on target I expect to score more than 1 goal. Whilst the AI can have 2 shots on target and score both of them. And it doesn't happen once every so often, it happens nearly every game!

Cmon Herringbone, this isn't the Tactics thread, the Tactics thread is thru the door, out the hallway, to the left, under the stairs, and in the septic tank. Please refrain from ever using the word "ta**ic" in this forum again...

Next match

Peterborough 1 Wycombe 3

Shots: Peterborough 8 Wycombe 7
On Target: Peterborough 3 Wycombe 7

Seems fair enough to me, i cannot see any major problems wrong with this, now and again you see 20+ shots or maybe even around 25 but it seems ok to me.

More stats.

Peterborough 0 Rochdale 0

Shots: Peterborough 5 Rochdale 3
On Target: Peterborough 2 Rochdale 0

Rotherham 4 Peterborough 2

Shots: Rotherham 26 Peterborough 9
On Target: Rotherham 11 Peterborough 6

Wycombe 4 Peterborough 1

Shots: Wycombe 13 peterborough 10
On Target: Wycombe 7 Peterborough 6

Peterborough 2 Grimsby 0

Shots: Peterborough 6 Grimsby 4
On Target: Peterborough 2 Grimsby 1

These stats seem ok to me, a lot of people seem to moan about this and i wasn't sure at first but now i don't really think it is a problem.

I think that it is preety realistic to be honest, freak games do happen, where you score from the only attack of the match, or you pound the goal for ninety minutes and don't score, these happen.

Granted that it doesn't happen particulaly often, it does happen and thats football.

Always thought that it was pretty realistic though to sum up..

You can manage the problem using tactics.

The problem is that the tactics you need to use aren't particularly logical.

Ergo, it is a problem and will be investigated.

Whether or not that results in changes no one can possibly know at this stage.
