Bongo-Bongo

I'm not sure if this is something I'm doing, or a bug, but since installing patch 8.0.1, my team seems to take crap corners on a regular basis.

Basically, what happens, is that when aiming for the near post, the corner taker will often put in a weak ball, causing the man on the near post to leave his position, running towards the corner to head the ball. He will then head the ball aimlessly over the goal line.

Has anybody else noticed this, or is it something I'm doing?

I've noticed it as well. Take your player off the near post flick on and you will see much more variety in corner kicks.

yep,ive noticed it as well,the worst thing is the player thats nearest who is always closest to the touchline tries to head it in ridicilously missing by a mile.

I'm leading L2 this season in goals from corners with 6 in 20 matches. Aiming at far post, best jumping/header challenging GK, no one on near post.

Just a matter of cracking this build's tactics...

Not to boast but I'm getting loads of goals from corners now.

And I agree with Katarian, I had to remove all Near post flick ons because it was failing miserably.

So now I have:

Attack near post - two players.
Attack far Post - two players.
Challenge goalkeeper - two players.
Attack ball from deep - two players.

Try and have at least one tall player (or good jumping and heading) in each set of two players.

Corner-taking:

Left wing (or right wing) - near post.
Right wing (or left wing) - far post.

At halftime, change it to:

Left wing (or right wing) - 6 yard box.
Right wing (or left wing) - penalty area.


That way you get variety as well, and more goals from corners are scored.

I'll give that a try, as since installing the patch, I've hardly scored from a corner. Pre patch, the near post flick on was far too powerful and my defenders were scoring for fun, so I'll just have to try something new.

Agreed, I have had major problems getting a decent corner all season. Granted that my highest corner taker has a stat of only 8, I would expect maybe a couple of good corners a season, but actually remember none.
