Hello everyone Just a quick hello to all the great members here. I spent a while browsing around the site-noticed the great support you offer one another and decided this would be a great place to learn photoshop. I am self teaching myself with a tut book called classroom in a book and any tutorial that I can find - not to duplicate but to figure out all the phenomenal tools available with this program. I spent 30 plus yrs as a commercian/proffessional photographer doing the darkroom chemicals cutting pasting airbrushing etc etc. and am amazed what the now generation of young people are achieving with a mouse, a ps program and some imaginationSimply amazing 8)) 8))
Best regards Brian 10lddawg

Howdy 1olddawg,

Welcome to the forum! You'll find that the love and enjoyment of Photoshop is truly cross generational. The forum members here are from early teenage into their eighties! We all share a fascination with the apparent infinite possibilities of Photoshop.

You've got a good start with the "Classroom in a Book" series. As you progressively get a handle on the tools and so forth, make up projects which would be of direct value or interest to you and have at them, even though you may not have the slightest idea how to accomplish them at the beginning. The desire to accomplish personal goals is the strongest stimulus to learning that I can imagine. We'll help!

Cheers!
Welles

welcome to PSG, 1olddawg!
If you were used to brush your pictures to retouch them, you may find using a Wacom stylus easier than a mouse!
And remember that all the darkroom techniques can be simulated with ones and zeroes so be prepared to share YOUR knowledge over here
