I signed van der Vaart in the January transfer window in my 1st season with R.Madrid. I'm playing a 4-5-1 tactic with 2 MC's and 1 DMC but without an AMC.

So I'm playing van der vaart as an MC. He's just getting 6's in every match I play him. Is it cos I'm not playing him in his natural position? Does he play much better as an AMC?
Even though I'm not playing him as an MC, his mentality is set to vary attacking so he comes forward a lot. And my team plays a quick short passing game. So I thought he would fit in with his good passing, first touch etc stats.

I bought him for $26 million and I'll try to offload him if he doesn't improve.

And for some reason mu board say that I would have justify the signing of van der Vaart cos the fans think it's a real poor acquisition!?

I had the same trouble with him when I signed him for Atletico Madrid. I put him into the AMC position and he was a revelation. He simply can't perform at MC.

same problem here mate

have him at lyon and he just doesn't perform at mc

shame though think i'm going to have to sell him because i don't play amc (only sometimes but than i could use someone cheaper)

He has to play as AMC. In my third season and he has just won Player of the year for the second season. Try Lulinha as he can play MC or AMC, he turns out to be every bit as good as Van Der Vaart.

I think it's about the tactics

the 4-5-1 is very defensive
should try 4-4-2 with Van der Vaart as a MC

i think after the patch he's by far worse... but its just my opinion

Player with the ppm "shots from distance" are worse now after the final patch. We all know you wont score on longshot anymore...well maybe 1 out of 10. So when Van der Vaart takes alot of longshots and miss most of them = bad rating.

hmmmmm...he played incredibly at MC for me. he is probably better at AMC though its just my formation doesnt use 1.
