Hi guys,

Just started a new game as Newcastle last night. It looks like Martins may be leaving me in the January trasfer window. Who should I buy to replace him - budget will be approx £13 million.

Start a new game, offer Martins a new contract without the release clause and keep him. Same with Owen. If you've not negotiated deal for him yet, then offer him a new contract and dont listen to any offers (unless you get crazy 30M ones or something).

If you've already had a bid for him and are helpless to stop him leaving and also are far enough into the game to not want to restart, then I suppose you can look at Palacio. He's very similar to Martins except he's not anywhere close to being as strong. But in terms of pace, finishing, long shots and the other stuff, he's either almost the same or better.

Otherwise wait until Jan hits. Then get a scout report on Saviola and see if he wants to come to Newcastle. If he does, then get him. He'll be available for sure next season though.
