"Richard, no new signings to date. Could you explain why that is?"
"Well, the squad i have here at the moment is one that i believe in, and so i don't want to rush into any rash signings. Obviously, as i'm sure you are aware, money is a little tight so i need to ensure that i buy the right kind of player, someone who will improve the team, and not just swell the numbers."
Richard wasn't a fan of doing media interviews. Press conferences were ok, and had to be done, but interviews for the media were another thing. This was for "
marca, one of the top papers in Spain.
"what are your expectations for this season?" came the next, predictable question.
"i believe that we can build on last season's finish, and look towards challenging for a champions league place. As for europe, i'd hope that we can go a long way in the competition, and get as close to the final as possible."
"Juan ROman Riquelme, does he feature in your plans?"
"of course he does. as i have mentioned previously, Riquelme's problems were with the previous managers. he has a clean slate as far as i am concerned, and i feel that he will play a crucial role in our season."
And so the questions went on. and on.
