16th September: Barnsley v Derby

A slow start for us saw Barnsley coming close to scoring on the 10th minute, luckily Camp managed to tip the ball over the crossbar. Soon after we had Nyatanga to thank for a great tackle to deny the Barnsley attack. On the 25th minute we had our first effort as Bisgaard headed into the keepers hands, from this attack Barnsley countered attacked us and Camp managed to save our bacon yet again. Just before the break we took the lead as Howard fired in from 8 yards after a mix up between the keeper and defence,
The second half was much the same with Barnsley controlling the pace of the game, luckily we managed to hold on and ended up with another good three points

Barnsley 0 - 1 Derby County (Howard 44)

20th September: Reading v Derby County; League Cup 2nd Round

We started the better and it wasn't long till we banged in our first shot but the Reading keeper managed to dive down well and save. Bisgaard was the next to come close as his freekick hit the wall and was nearly diverted over the keepers head. Reading started to get back into the game but they couldn't dominate us as they wanted. On the 43rd minute Reading managed to score but the referee cancelled it out for a foul on Roque. At half time I replaced Bisgaard who had picked up a gashed arm.
The second half started brilliantly as after only two minutes we went a goal up as Cadamarteri fired in. After the goal my players began to play more confidently and we dominated for the rest of the half but failed to fire in the second goal, but it was enough for us to got through to the next round

Reading 0 - 1 Derby County (Cadamarteri 47)

Bisgaard's injury will see him out for around a week with his arm. Now I've got to wait to who we have in the next round of the Cup. Hopefully we will face ione of the big guns in the Premiership

23rd September: The draw for the League Cup 3rd Round see's us drawn at home against Championship side Plymouth. I was alittle dissappointed as I would of loved to face a big club.

Leicester City v Derby County

Our first local derby against a tough Leicester side, My players came out well and kept City in there own half. Iyt was Leicester though that had the first shot as they fired just over. Seven minutes later Howard came close to opening our account but failed to connect with the ball well.
The second half started well for us as we again kept City on the back foot, Against the run of play we went a goal down as Leicester found a way past my defence to slot home. It got worse as on the 63rd minute they doubled there lead. I was not best pleased with my teams defending especially with how well we had done in the first half. I screamed at my players to push forward but they looked as though they weren't listening and we failed to recover, we lost three points which should of been ours

Leicester City 2 - 0 Derby County

27th September: Injury news see's Seth Johnson out again with a twisted ankle, he will be out for around a month, this is the second time he has been unavailable due to an ankle injury

30th Septmeber: Derby County v Luton

I wanted a better performance from my players after the last match and in the opening exchanges my players gave that, on the 6th minute we made the Luton keeper work as Lupoli headed towards the bottom corner, but the keeper dived down well and tipped it round the post. On the 19th minute Howard was fouled in the area, unforutnatly the same player managed to fire the resulting penalty over the bar. A minute later Luton nearly took a surpirse lead but Camp was awake enough to save the shot. Late in the half we took the lead as Howard fired in a simple tap in from 4 yards.
The second half was more open as Luton decided to attack alittle more. On the 57th minute they managed to equalise as my defnce looked very inept. It however took us only five minutes to retake the lead as Lupoli fired in from an Oster cross. We hoever failed to keep the game and on the 79th minute Luton equalised

Derby County 2 - 2 Luton (Howard 41, Lupoli 62)

14th October: Cardiff v Derby County

This was a complete wash out fo a game with neither team making any sort of effort and just playing 90 minutes of pure drivel

Cardiff 0 - 0 Derby County

17th October; Derby County v Q.P.R

My players seemed more intrsted in this game than the last and piled forward at every opportunity. Twelve minutes into the game we had a long range effort well saved by the Q.P.R keeper. But he stood no chance on the 33rd minute as Howard headed in from 10 yards after Bisgaard whipped a peach of a cross in. Just before the break we doubled our lead as Cadamarteri fired in from short range.
We dominated the second half and gave nothing to Q.P.R but for all our attacking we could only manage one more goal as Cadamarteri again scored to give us a good 3-0 win

Derby County 3 - 0 Q.P.R (Howard 33, Cadamarteri 45, 74)

21st October: Birmingham City v Derby County

We got off to a great start as after only two minutes we were a goal up as Howard fired in from 12 yards, Unforutnatly our concentration let us down and we conceded the equalsier on the ninth minute. We kept going forward and on the 27th minute we shot just over as Cadamarteri volleyed in an Oster cross. Eleven minutes later we retook the lead as Camara headed in from 6 yards.
Six minutes into the second half we ahnded the equaliser to Birmingham as Leacocok managed to slice a clearance into the back of our net. I was slightly annoyed with how my team have twice handed goals to the opposition. The own goal seemed to knock the stuffing out of my team and we failed to create anything after that, luckily for us Birmingham were just as toothless

Birmingham City 2 - 2 Derby County (Howard 2, Camara 38)

25th October: Derby County v Plymouth; League Cup 3rd Round

We seemed pretty slow as Plymouth started well. Eleven minutes into the game Plymouth had the first effort as they broke free of my defence but luckily for us Camp was there to save the day. Unfortunatly he stood no chance with the opener as Plymouth fired in a corker on the 28th minute.
The second half was much the same as Plymouth didn't give us any rest bite. But against the run of play we equalised as the Plymouth keeper fluffed the ball into his own net on the 59th minute. This didn't stop Plymouth coming at us and we were lucky to make it to 90 minutes without conceding. The game went into extra time but nothing really happened and it went to penalties.
We started with Cadamarteri firing in, Plymouth folloed suit and fired in theres
Bisgaard was up next and fired in a scorcher which the keeper stood no chance with, Plymouths penalty was tipped onto the post by Camp.
Howard then stood up and fired his effort high into the net, Plymouth fired there's wide of the post.
Camara stepped into the frame and wasted no time in dispatching his effort, Plymouth knew they had too score, and lucky for us they didn't and we went to through to the next round

Derby County 1 - 1 Plymouth (aet) (pen 4-1) (OG 59)

Cadamarteri will be out injured for up to three weeks after injuring his elbow in the celbrations of our cup win

28th October: The League Cup 4th Round ahs been drawn and we will travelling to Manchester to face Manchester City

Preston v Derby County

We started well against high flying Preston and within five minutes Howard had rattled the crossbar with a long ranger. Nine minutes later Lupoli headed just wide after a brilliant run and cross by Bisgaard. However on the 22nd minute we went a goal down as Preston ran through my defence and slotted past our keeper Grant. Ten minutes later we a further goal down as Preston fired in from ten yards. At half time I told my players they needed to work alittle harder in breaking Preston down.
Unfortunately ten minutes into the half Preston added a third goal and my team looked demorilised. We did pull one goal back but it was too little too late as Howard fired in a penalty on the 86th minute after Nyatanga was fouled

Preston 3 - 1 Derby County (Howard pen 86)
