Lessons learned for anybody thinking of trying this at home:
1. Start hosting 1-2 hours before; it literally took some of us more than 90 minutes to get config'ged and connected, with one giving up entirely. Good job on PM7 for starting that process before the scheduled kickoff time.
2. If you've never played network before, do a mini-preview game beforehand, just to iron out any kinks in your firewall settings. Could have saved a whole lot of time.
3. If Panpardus is going to stay up all night anyways, we might as well start at 5:00pm GMT, so at least he's the only one up until 6:00am.
4. Don't invite Amaroq, he takes too long on his writeups, and besides, its just embarassing to lose to an American.
5. England are shyte.
6. If forced to re-join, click the "Not Connected" link next to your name.
7. If you join in the middle of a match, you won't be allowed to replace yourself until the match ends.
8. It always ends in tears for Spain.
9. If you "View" two simultaneous matches, you can switch between them on the "Current Scores" match-screen; there's a little "View" button to the left of the match you aren't currently viewing.
10. Don't pick Portugal if a quality side like Brazil are still available.
11. You have to write a little bit of story - its FMS, ferchrissake! *
coughseancough*
12. Don't click "View" for today's match, then try to go visit the "Match Report" for a previous match during today's match - you'll get stuck. If this happens to you once, don't repeat it (

AMAROQ!)
13. If this happens to somebody, the host can move things along by forcing the player to continue, should recover that player.
14. The chat in MSN really made it, especially those class folks who stuck around after getting knocked out.
15. Pre-preparing any amount of "story" or theme helps you look like a good writer.
16. PM7's just in it for the awards, he's got the whole thing rigged so he can win.

Seriously, though, we got some talk going about getting a club-team network game going.. stay tuned for details as that idea matures.
This was my first network game and it was WAYYY fun!
