"I just can't be bothered anymore! We have 6 months of school left! I just wanna leave now!
"Same as really"
"Sam, do you wanna drink, mate?"
Before he could reply he had a coca-cola bottle in his hands.
Great, Sam thought. What's this? Play at your favourite football club, eh? I've won a phone before. . .Why not? Fast forward 4 months.
CONGRATULATIONS, you've won a chance to play at St James Park on 6th May 2006! To find details about this trip ring 08006473674.
"Dad, i got this text today, it's about a chance to play at St James'"
"Probably too good to be true, ain't there no number with it?"
Sam gave his dad the 0800 number and his dad called it, after all it's free!
"****ing hell! Nice one mate! Its true, you're gonna play at St James!"
Sam couldn't believe it, the chance to go to St James was one thing but to play there the weekend before his birthday was another! 5th May 2006
Sam and his dad were all packed and it was time (5am) to set off to Newcastle. They arrived in Gateshead at 12.30.
"Bit of a dive ain't it"
"Yeah might just be this part of town, i dunno!" Sam could see it wasn't nice but nothing could get him down.
"Lets look for somewhere in town"
After driving around for a while they found Rosemary Hotel, booked 2 nights and unpacked.
The next day Sam and his dad went to St James. Sam played and much to his disappointment, didn't score but had a fine shot saved by the reserve team keeper.
Glenn Roeder was allowed to pick one out of the 20 players to join him in the dressing room for the last game of the season, against Chelsea, although there was a test, mainly of how good the player was at motivating and leading players. All were completed and after a short wait Glenn picked Sam Fuller. May 7th 2006 3.45pm
Come on lads, lets finish the season on a high! Lets -- Glenn stopped talking and turned purple, he was rushed to the nearest hospital leaving the team and Sam in the dressing room 10 minutes before the 2nd half.
The tension could've been cut with a knife.
Sam finally plucked up the courage to talk.
"Look guys, you may think why the hell is this 15 year old here? What does he know about football? Am i right?"
The players looked at each other, amazed.
Out of respect Shay Given nodded and said Aye, yet the rest of the players were still bewildered.
"1 out of 16, not bad, eh?"
The players all chuckled, still wary of this kid.
"We're still 0-0 we can win this, just have belief in yourselves and it will happen, success is measured by effort. Charlie (N'Zogbia) I want you to really get at Johnson and pin him back, try and win as many corners and free kicks as possible, never underestimate the chances you get, Emre, you're an amazing dead ball specialist, play to your strengths."
The players were still amazed by this kids confidence but felt motivated but his positivity and in the 73rd minute Titus Bramble scored and Newcastle won.
After the game, Sam and his dad were mingling at the after party when Sam was approached by Freddy Shepherd. Freddy and his personal adviser ushered Sam and his dad into a private office.
"Hello Sam, nice to meet you, my name is Alex Winshall, i am Mr Shepherd's adviser."
"Erm, ok, great! Can i ask what's going on?!"
"See, the thing is, Glenn is ill and with his previous record, he and his family have decided it would be best for him, and his family, if he retired. Upon hearing this, the players automatically all told Mr Shepherd and I of your half-time speech and how they feel at ease with you."
"I was just trying to hel-"
"You don't need to explain yourself, we would like to offer you the position of manager at the club whilst learning the coaching badges you need to manage. If you accept you will have 3 months to acquire the licenses which is plenty of time."
"Where do i sign?!"

As long as you are going to be telling a story based mainly on an SI football game, it's fine.

Rep Power: 4 | Nice one! Technically, re: the badges, the UEFA international badge requires a year to complete, and the Premiership requirement is "must be enrolled in", not "must complete"; the UEFA A is 3 1-week classes 1 month apart, and UEFA B is 1 week. Just did that research for my story. |

Due to a bad financial position, the Newcastle board have allocated Sam "Who is he?" Fuller less then £200,000.
The rookie manager hasn't wasted any time by putting long serving Steve Harper in the reserve along with the likes of Peter Ramage, Oli Bernard and new signing Antoine Sibierski. It is also widely reported that Fuller has listed Given on the transfer list.

Right, didn't sell Given, forget that bit.
"Fuller Makes An Instant Impact"
Sam Fuller took charge of his first Premier League game at home to Chelsea, Newcastle won 2-0 with two first half goals from on-loan Giuseppe Rossi and Obafemi Martins
