Waking up and turning on the news was when i heard, i was in my hotel in Southend where i works as a scout for the team. I coudnt believe it, a hurricane in North London destroying it, but more important Arsenal FC not even a youth player, or coach survived all of them dead. I didnt know what to think, what was i supposed to think, then i found out that Peter Hill-Wood the chairman had been, in Essex at the time, visiting family, "****ing ******" i shouted at the picture of him on GMTV, his whole club destroyed and he lives, i didnt think that was fair at all. That's when i heard the phone ringing.
i asnwered it and it was Kerrea Gilbert, one of the Southend players on loan from Arsenal, then i though of course!!!!! He seemed as though he had been crying,
"Tom, did you hear" he asked knowing i supported Arsenal.
"Yes, just now on the news" i replied
"What are we going to do?" he asked.
"Well i guess your going to be on loan here for the rest of the season"
"But what about Arsenal, i can't leave them, my friends and team mates and manager and coaches, what can i do?" he pleaded
"I don't know i said"
"I'll see you at training today" I said, and put the phone down.
I turned up to training to recieve this seasons scouting missions from Steve Tilson, but when i turned up i could see him and Kerrea talking i was wondering what they were talking about, i walked over towards them and they stopped talking.
"Tom" Kerrea said
" I've just recieved an email from Peter Hill - Wood" Steve said
"What to be the manager?!" i quickly answered
"Not exactly" Steve replied
"They want you to be the part - time manager for a month" Kerrea quickly followed up
"Oh" i said.
I'd finished the meeting with Peter Hill-Wood, he'd told me 5 Main things,
1. Arsenal where still a premiership team
2. Transfer Budget wont happen untill next season
3. Emirates Stadium insurance came threw and a new stadium called "New North London" will be ready to move in, in 5 years time
4.Traore, Mark Randall,Matthew Connolly and kerrea Gilbert have all been recalled from loan
5. The other players in the squad will have to be free transfers or players from the youth academy
**** i thought.
I went down to the Youth academy and they told me that there where a team of 11, 16 year olds available.(More on that later), i watched them play Charlton Under 18's, it was a 1-1 draw, which i felt was good for a team of 16 year old's. So i took them aboard straight away.
So that was it for the season, 15 players, no back up keeper, just 1 team of 16 year olds and the loanies, well it's safe to say this season we wont be in the top 4. But if we are it would prove what good youth we have.

I was later told all of the results we had so far where not going to be counted, and we had to play Fulham and Man City again, although our victories over Sparta Prague were counted.
Leading up to the game against Fulham, in almost every game of football worldwide, the players and coaches and manager where wearing the armband, the armband that would remember all the players, and staff and the manager that died during the North London Hurricane. You could see the grief left on the loanies faces, but i told them just to get on with it, and thinking of them would make them more emotional.
We kept getting media reports, from all the other managers and teams, on how sorry they where, but i told knowone to go easy on us, as it's a competition and sometimes tradgedys happen.
Arsenal 0 - 1 Fulham
In the first half Fulham, played alot better than us, but we still hung on untill the break at halftime. Then in the second half a goal from New signing David Healy on 78 minutes sealed the game for us.
I wasn't surprised to lose, but it was quite a promising start to the season, knowing we didn't get thrased by Fulham.
After the match my captain Kerrea Gilbert came up to me.
"What are we going to do against City"
" I don't know, the same i guess" i said.
"But what if we lose again Tom"
Then i lost it with him.
"Well then we're going to bloody lose then, come on Kerrea apart from you four, those guys have been playing in the under 16's, what do you expect, to be up there with the other top 3?, well we wont ok!, we'll be lucky if we don't go down!"
"Oh ok" a saddened captain said, and shrugged off to the coach for the ride home from Fulham.
**** i thought to myself, then i boarded the bus and it set off back to North London.
After todays episode with Kerrea Gilbert i was quite depressed, i don't know why it didn't have anything to do with our loss, because i expected it. But how did i get the job?, had Kerrea reccomended me, if he had, having a go at him wasn't a very good way of saying thanks, but then i got into bed a single 24 year old and turned on the tv.

Hello again and welcome back to Sky Sports News, if you've just joined us, we are very saddened to announce the attempted suicide of Peter Hill - Wood chairman of Arsenal.[quote]
Pfff i thought bet the manager is gutted, then it hit me BULLSHIT!! that's me and i ran out to the street and jumped in my car, still only with my boxers on and drove straight down to White Hart Lane, where we will be playing our home games. I opened the car door and ran to the entrance, where i was greeted to the laughs of several hundred fans, and 5 or 10 News reporters, the cameras where now pointing at me.
As i ran back to my car, i saw a hooded fellow in the distance, he made a hand signal, making clear he wanted me to come closer to him, i got in the car, and pulled over towards him. He removed his hood, it was David Dein. He got in the car,
"What are you doing here, werent you fired or something" i asked.
"Yes, but now he's dead"
i didn't hear the rest of what he said,
"Dead!?!?"
"Yes!"
"On the news it said it was attempted"
"Yeah his passing was confirmed, 5 minutes ago, i guess you must have been driving here"
"Yeah, i was but what does this mean?"
David Dein didn't answer, and with that he stepped out the car, shut the door and i drove off.
