Hi Welwyn, Jayare35, yes the Pesch will make something of an apperance in the story. wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone though.
O Canada - The Des Arabalour Story. Episode Two - Part Four
The show returns from the ad break to see Des visibly moved by the stunning beauty from the Canadian FA that is stood before him. He stumbles to make a polite response to the blond's greeting.
Des Arbalour (DA): "Oh, hello. I'm Des Arbalour."
Jenny MacArthur (JMac):"Des, I know that."
DA : "Right.......You're here to whisk me off to Toronto, or is it Paradise ?"
JMac: (to the camera) : "Oh brother, this is going to be a long flight, isn't it."
The next shot is of Des and Jenny walking down the jetway to be greeted onto the Air Canada jumbo. They are shown to their first class seats towards the front of the plane.
Des obviously feels he has to speak again.
Des Arbalour : "Do you ever watch that Air Crash Investigation programme on the National Geographic Channel, New episodes every Monday night at 9pm ?"
O Canada - The Des Arbalour Story - Episode Two. The end therof.
The shot cuts to one from the same viewpoint, the impression being that it is sometime later in the flight. Jenny MacArthur is looking very bored and Des Arbalour is gazing at her like a lonely puppy. The dossier of information about the Canadian squad lies unopened on the low table that might very well be a feature of the first class lounge on a jumbo jet. As the shot pans out and then fades to black we here Des finishing up what he considers to be a very funny joke.
Des Arbalour (DA): " And Motorway says to A-Road, 'Don't mess with him he's a Cyclepath'!.......ha,ha,hahahahahahahaha.....ha don't you get it ?"
And though the screen is very nearly dark by this point we can see that Jenny does indeed not get the joke. At all.
The screen lightens again and we see teh BBC four studio and our presenter Rick Nottle.
Rick Nottle (RN): "That's all for this week. Tune in for next week's thrilling episode which sees the infamous first press conference, Des's first game in charge, and the shameful 'National Anthem' incident. See you next week
The end credits role.
BBC Four Announcer Lady (BFAL) "That's what Rick thinks. Oh, no Des Arbalour will be back for another episode, but I'm not so sure he will be."
"Next up on BBC Four "The Reticent Badger", An examination of the role of The Royal Navies squadron of performing badgers, who kept the troops entertained in the darkest days of World War Two. And on BBC Three, now, "Terry McGinty sings Deacon Blue". it won't be long before he's back on this channel then. Goodnight.
BBC Four Announcer Lady (BFAL) : " And now on the ever popular BBC Four 'it's not good enough for BBC Two' slot it's this week's episode of O Canada - The Des Arbalour Story, this week presented by Phil Joopitus, who's show on BBC Radio Six Music is rather fine."
The by-now familiar theme music and title sequence kick in after only a few seconds delay.
Phil Joopitus (PJ) (our host) : "Welcome to tonight's episode of The Des Arbalour Story. You know I remember when Des played for Blackpool, I liked football then, you know, before I bought my first record ('From The Cradle To The Grave' by Crispy Ambulance if you must know), but once I heard that track I never went to Bloomfield Road ever again.
Anyway, on with the show. Tonight's coverage starts with Dutch telly's coverage of the first Press Conference. It had been set up in the Airport's Arrivals Lounge, you see, and Des just wasn't ready for it.....So... tonight's episode...... What do you mean I have to fill for four more seconds ? Oh has that done it ? Right
