I didn't insult the Welsh though?
Some of my characters (and those of others) though are intended to offend |

Did you just forget to insult the Welsh on this occasion? Sheep-shagging, gibberish-speaking, valley-dwelling weirdos that they are.

It was only surprising that Aberdeen was not in Wales."
I wasn't offended though, being a story, I found it hilarious!

Ah fair enough.
Landing anyone with Aberdeen would be quite offensive tbh.

I haven't read the so-called "offensive" piece. I agree with most of the comments here, fiction is fiction and you can write whatever the hell you like in fiction and no-one can do anything about it. People have even written fiction with themes of paedophilia (which just about everyone would agree is totally repugnant), however no-one has ever suggested banning it. Criticise if you want, but if you're hysterically offended, go read something else.
If SI get upset then just move the forums elsewhere.
Where I get peeved is when the fiction supercedes the fact that these are supposed to be stories about football management. I think the mods should suggest that when people tell rambling fiction stories with little or no relation to the game they should post elsewhere. It has happened a few times.
And finally...please let's never take this all too seriously. I read these because I want to be amused, and I write in the hope of amusing people. Let's not bring the f***ed up mentality of the world today into a story forum intended for entertainment and escapism.

True, but there are boundaries and limits on these forums.

| Apologies for upping, but I just read this and I'm astounded, if you mean what I think you mean? Astounded.

What are they though? Is the rule that no fictional character can express an opinion that would be unacceptable should a 'real' person express it? Or is it a blurry line that we have to judge on a case-by-case basis?
What about satire, where an offensive issue is magnified and overplayed as a means of ridiculing it?

I think you would have to judge each story on it's own merit and context, and also the historical background of the poster, with newer poster perhaps being given the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.
It is highly possible for people to post deliberately offensive material that has no place on the forum, as far as I am concerned - and obviously the people who have moderated the forum over the past seven years - I can't think of anything that has crossed that line.
Just because someone or someones complain about something does not make them right and person being complained about wrong and actually I would suggest that a person who perpetually complains about posts in a forum should be banned, it's a form of harrassment which to my mind is highly offensive.
People have been offended by whats written here before. I found particulary Raptor's crucifixion of two young boys highly offensive and it didn't even have the saving grace of being satirical, it was just rubbish.
On the other hand, when 13litz wrote about his gay poles, it was highly amusing. Stereotypes are highly amusing, and humour is a legitimate way of denouncing such stereotypes. People should perhaps worry more about serious issues in life than a few words on a fairly meaningless message board.

I thought he meant that there should be no off the field story line at all, which is is ludicrous, but actually reading the Superclub and the Supergirl there does seem to be an element of that in there, so erm, I'm confused now.
I think we need the Story Ideas Discussion thread type thing back tbh.
