I was on the train for around five hours when we suddenly pulled up to Wellington Station. The station was right in the heart of Shropshire and was a twenty minute walk from the stadium. I got of the train and slowly stumbled up The Parade street and could vaguely see the stadium in front.
After what felt like an age I was outside the deserted stadium. I entered what seemed to be reception and told them I'm the new manager. I was led in to the tunnel and through a door in to the changing rooms. As I entered the whole room went silent. People knew exactly who I was after ex-manager Rob Smith walked out on the side after last years disappointing finish.
The assistant manager Larry Chambers introduced me to the squad before I took them out for training. We looked a pretty nifty side but needed to bring in some new defenders. At the end of the session we went inside and I told them my expectations and how I like my team to play and act in general.
