International Management- 38 year old Gerrard still playing midfield role for England in your game?
International teams stick only with big name players from our own time (i.e. France-Henry, England-Gerrard, Italy-Nesta).
Even if young players are getting 40 goals a season in the premiership they can't seem to get into their national teams over the old guatd who might be scoring 5 a season or even not playing.
Two examples in my current game are french international Jimmy Braind who has scored 20 goals in 18 appearences for man city- he can't get in the Fench squad whose other 'big' names have no more than ten goals.
The second example is theo walcott who is storming the premiership in 2009/10 season with 10 goals from 15 and an avg of 7.30.
I think this is a severe problem and needs to be looked at. It has been reported that International temas have been senn with 35, 36 year old 'established players' later in the game instead of young talent.
I've said it before and i'll say it again, this game has the potential to be superb but s few things desperately need adjusting, and, imo, international management is one of the main things.

im sure you could recomend back in 01/02, such a great feature.
For Englans I think fm has always favoured big names over up and coming regens, ithink its difficult for regens to get to the status, and consistency of stats - is this down to the game or is this a problem for england in real life too!?!?
I have certianly seen your lampards, gerrards, nevilles going on to get 150+ caps and playeing until mid 30s

currently in my game a 35 year old cannavaro is still vice captain of and a regular in the italian national side, despite having spent a season playing badly for messina, who finished 19th and conceded more goals (76) than any other team in the division
his average for the season was 6.48, and his defensive and physical attributes have declined dramatically

Interesting topic - it's one we've been discussing here for a couple of months. It's also a difficult one to call as has already been made out. Some initial thoughts:
- Why would a player retire from international football if he was still being picked? Beckham has indicated in the past few days that he won't consider retiring from international football.
- What if the next generation of footballers weren't as talented as some of the older, 'golden' generation?
- Maybe players aren't getting injured enough, thereby playing more games than they otherwise would?
- Maybe club managers need to get involved more and attempt to stop their players playing so many international games?

I say this because I've just started a Lower League game (loosely based on Dafuge's challenge) and in the second season Matt Murray from Wolves has broke into the squad!
Perhaps it is something that doesn't get fixed straight away and needs a new game to fix it! (i.e. Wayne Rooney's internation ban didn't disappear in games you already had running IIRC )

Nick - Do you agree that in the player interaction we should be including an option to suggest the player is ready for an international call up - this would be a great feature!
