Am playing with Liverpool, hapy enough with my tactics, squad, but just cannot catch man utd.
After 30 games they still have a 9 point lead over me, albeit they have played one more match. They have 3 losses and three draws from 30 matches, and win their games by 3-5 goals.
They lost to me at anfield, but thumped me 5-0 at old trafford.
However, the top 7 players with average rating are all utd players. rooney has 30 premierhip goals. even scholes has 18.
Am still chasing, but wonder if anyone else has found them extremely strong.

I found Arsenal extrememly strong. They went to the 26th league game before they lost when i was Liverpool. But with the way the top 4 dominate all the time and rarely drop points in real life i'd say its pretty realistic, apart from Rooney seemingly being a goal machine.
When left to the control of the AI I think that United are far too good. I've played as lesser Premier League teams and I've got good results against Arsenal, Liverpool & Chelsea, but I hate the games against United.
My best result was a 2-0 defeat. Usually I get absolutely battered. I'm not complaining that I can't beat them, I just think it would be better if the top teams were closer together. If I lose against one so dramatically as I normally do with United then really the others should have the same capacity to destroy me.
I play as Atletico Madrid but I always keep an eye on the Premiership, I'm into my 3rd season now and Utd have finished 4th and 1st in the previous two and are currently 2nd coming into March, they have also won the Uefa cup which means they were dumped out of the EPL pretty early one year. I got them in the group stage of the ECL last year and beat them home & away so they don't seem too great. I have Arsenal in the group stage this year and found them much more difficult to handle but I put that down to the new patch negating my tactics, I've since had to switch.
Also in my old PArma game before 5/12/09 bug Man Utd were struggling.
Well, I don't know how they could be too strong, seeing as they won the whole thing last year and added players such as Tevez, Hargreaves, Anderson and Nani this year. Quite frankly they should be very hard to keep pace with. It all comes down to injuries doesn't it? If Rooney didn't have his injuries to contend with 30 goals doesn't sound too far fetched to me...
Also I guess it depends on who you've brought in to your Liverpool team. Liverpool have a good squad, especially in central midfield and with the addition of Torres, but still not a squad that is able to match Man Utd's. This is especially apparent on the wings IMO:
Man Utd: Giggs, Ronaldo, Nani and Ji-Sung
Liverpool: Kewell, Babel, Pennant, Benayoun.
I wouldn't say they are unbeatable on the game. In my first season at Rangers I managed to put them out in the Champions cup first knock out round beating them 2-1 at home and 1-0 away to win 3-1 on aggregate. I signed players such a Gioda, cesar Delgado and johan elmander to bolster my squad though I must say.
In my game it's Chelsea and Arsenal who are the "unbeatable" ones. I've done decently against Liverpool and Man United (with the Hammers) but always concede 3-4 goals against the former clubs.
I acutally prefer them to be on top of the league, at least until I've managed to build a real powerhouse team. Mostly because AI vs AI games live their own lives, where United or Arsenal may be beaten, but when I subsequently face them myself, they're always as good as if they were top of the league. That way I have to meet a 'new' league leader (whoever that is) who plays really well, AND I have to meet the 'fallen' but still near impossible to beat United, Pool, Gunners or Chelsea.
