Hi guys,
I'm wondering if you use always the same tactics during all season (tiny adjustments here and there) or if you use different tactics as you play with a stronger or weaker opponent for example...
I ask this because without changing a thing in my team in one game against a good team i made 15 shoots for instance...
the next game against a poor team i just made 3 or 4...
In one game i win for 3-0 and the next game...i lose by 3...
Is that normal?
When it seems that my team is playing great, without any reason (at least that i know), i lose 2 or 3 games with minor teams...
After that i can win again for 5 or 6 games...even playing against strongest teams...
Can you give some advices?
Thanks in advance...

it seems like your tactic opens up good teams but bad teams counter you and score.
Basically you have to slow down your tempo and put passing to short against bad teams because then you can control your offense. Right now the AI is running counter attack on you and catching you off guard.

The thing you have to remember is that all teams, regardless of their ability, are different. So Even if you play the same tactic against a team top of the league and beat them, doesn't mean you beat the team bottom of the league in the next game.
Besides the "issues" many talk about I think this is the biggest factor of why some people struggle in FM'08.
Dont get me wrong if your one of the big teams and have a great sqaud you can pretty much get away with making a great tactic and winning most games, but for LLM its all about applying the right tactics, with the players at your disposal to beat the team your playing! So it will need a lot more foresight instead of just picking you best side and using the same tactic that won you the previous game.

Of course you need to change tactics, you have to adjust to how your opponents are playing, if your at home you be more att, away more def.espeacially if your playing a big club away ya best off been defensive and counter att.

Well...
Maybe i didn't explain myself right...
I gave some examples...but they're just examples...
Sometimes happens the opposite...
I win easily a bad team and lose for 3 or 4 with a top team...
What i meant it's just my team plays very irregular...
One game all the players just make an awesome game...and the next one all them plays poorly...
And i'm concerned about the offense stuff...
Because i finish some games with lots of corners, and free kicks and shoots...and even goals...
And some other games i just can't win one single corner and just made one or two shoots...
Many times I've finished the first half without any single shoot...while the previous game i made 8 or 9 in that period for instance...
I just can't figure out how can i make a more regular team...
Because sometimes i think i just figure out the "perfect tactics" (disposition in the pitch, training metods, right players, etc...) and the next game it's a crap...
At least i think is kinda weird...
I never know what to count for in the next game...despite my team is great or awful...

Nelson,
I always use the same tactic.
It doesn't matter if I manage Barcelona or Stockport County.
It doesn't matter if I play against Manchester United or Halifax.
I keep my tactics the same.
In the CM series I played with a 4-1-3-2 tactic short passing, hard tackling, attacking mode
In FM I play a simple attacking 4-4-2, attacking on the highest position minus 1 and I put my defence away from my own goal. And that’s it. The other team tactics remain default.
I win titles, cups, I promote regularly and I never get the sack.
I adjust one little thing when I’m playing against a very good and scoring team on its home ground:
In such situation I toggle the counter attack on.
Keeping the same tactic works for me.
Sure, I could win even more games, if I would use tactics.
But for me it's not worth the time: I win enough and have a more than decent win record.

Sir EW - I agree that you can play FM'08 with just one tactic, its pretty much the way that I play the majority of the time.
You develope your tactic for the team you our, bring in the best players to suit that tactic and away you go.
But for people to want to expect to win 100% of there games by sticking with one tactic then that just wont happy. My Barca save I've only been beaten once at home by Racing!!! But I'm not gonna complain that I was on a 15 game winning streak and got upset by the defeat, blaming the game. Just took it on the chin, and half expected it!
I think this is what makes FM unique. As people can play with minimal tactical changes or go as deep as they like.
Either way FM can be played with much enjoyment as you want.

I also try to keep to the same basic formation and vary my tactics (slightly) according to my competition. I play a standard 4-4-2 with the wingers going forward a little. Though, in FM2007, I found great success playing 3-1-4-2, but that was due to rock solid defense led by a Czech named Jiri Macala (I always play with fake players) who I signed when he was 16 and even talked him into staying with me at 19 even though Barca made a generous offer to my Academica de Coimbra side. I would have never sold him for such loyalty.

I always used to just have one tactic. (pure laziness on my part!)
But recently I've had two, 4-5-1 counter for away games and against big teams. and a 4-4-2 diamond with lots of attacking, for home games, small teams. The only reason I made two was that I had 4 strikers, and two weren't getting a look in as they were rubbish at holding up the ball in the 4-5-1.
Seems to work well, keeps the AI guessing
