Improving the role of the Assistant Manager: Training Reports
At the moment in the game the Assistant Manager does a pretty poor job. I feel it is an area of the game that has a lot of potential and the role of the Ass Man should be improved to fulfil it. This thread will focus on how the training reports can improve in the game, it will be the first of a few suggestions I have regarding the assistant manager.
Training Reports – Over the last few versions both the scout reports and coach reports have improved drastically, training reports should now be brought up to that standard. The report should have the same format as the others by being split into sections, IMO these sections should be:
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>
<LI>Successful Training- This section will list the players who have done the best in training recently. It would also say if there is a training schedule that is proving to work particularly well. Another thing it will tell you as what type of attribute the team is improving most with (Technical, Mental or Physical).
<LI>Unsuccessful Training- Basically this is the opposite of the above listing what players and training schedules are not having much success in training. However it will also point out if the player has not been successful in training because of a recent injury or because he has been absent.
</UL>
The information from these two sections is more or less an expansion of what is currently in the training report, it will give more detail though and look better set out like the scout reports. The info will help you to decide what changes (if any) should be made to training as well as if you should keep an eye on a specific player(s).
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>
<LI>Player Injuries and Absences – This section will tell you about any current injuries or absences in the team and their current involvement in training (e.g. none, light training, returning to full, etc..).
<LI>Team Problems and Concerns – This section will mention any problems or concerns that the Assistant has noticed during training. These problems/concerns can be anything regarding the players, for example, “Player A is unhappy with his current training workload” and “Player X’s behaviour is having a bad effect on the rest of the team. The Assistant Manager will also offer advice on what action to take, e.g. “Leave it for the time being”, “Talk to the player”, and “Alter the schedules” etc...
<LI>Youth Training – This section will summarise how youth training is going, t will mention any youths who are standing out
<LI>Summary – As the name suggests, this summarises the report with a few sentences. It mentions anything from the report that is particularly useful or important.
</UL>
This training report should be viewable at all times in the Assistant Manager’s profile and the gamer should also be able to choose how often it is received in the inbox. The accuracy and detail of the report should also depend on the assistant’s attributes.
Although it is only really expanding on what is currently in the game I feel it would be a good thing. It would offer help to people who don’t fully understand training but also IMO be helpful to experienced gamers. My hope is that the whole of training gets revamped for FM09 (I started this thread a while ago about it: http://community.sigames.com/eve/for...1/m/3462041553 ), if a revamp was to happen then of course the training report would change to suit that but for the time being this IMO is how the report should be based upon the current training module.
I welcome any comments you may have

agree with the physio point. Sometimes they get a knock and then after the match you discover there out for 2 weeks. Just a little hint at half time or during the game that the injury is fine or he has to come off.

i agree that the assistant manager could play a bigger role in the game i would like their monthly reports to be more in depth... on a side note instead of having the assistant manager report on youth training what about having a academy manager report to you on the youth side and any promising you should keep an eye on.

An academy manager is a possible way to go but I feel that at the moment the game does not go into enough detail regarding youth players and academies to warrant putting in a job like that.
I feel having the assistant manager reprt on it is best for now. I do feel that in the future more jb titles should be created including Academy director/manager.

It's true that, while the Ass Man has gotten better over the years, He's still an often overlooked feature in the game, because a lot of the times, you can live without him just fine. Case in point:
I had MAJOR financial problems at the start of my LL game, so I kicked out all the dead wood, incl. the Ass Man, who was rather hopeless.
Instead of relying on him telling me once a month which three players had trained well and which three sucked, I just got off my own arse and had checked it out myself. I rarely agree with the Ass Man's player picks so I didn't use him for that either.
When it came to training, I had a better coach managing the reserves, and a decent youth coach for the U18's.
In short, he was non-essential and I didn't miss him.

How about an option to ask the Assistant Manager for a tactical or formation recommendation based on the available personnel?
You'll be interested in what I will be writing about next. That is to do with what advice the Ass Man has regarding tactics and formations.
I'll probably post that tomorrow.
Thanks for your comments so far guys :thup:
