well.. tevez is 1.70 and nothing special in the air, neither is Aguero who I have seen do the same

must be something wrong surely, they are midgets xD There are examples of quite short guys being great in the air(Like Larsson) but they are a rarity

Short guys who are quality in the air like Larsson have that quality show up in there jumping and heading ratings. Even at age 35 Larsson is rated a 16/16.

No one would suggest a smaller guy can't be good in the air but the point is that guys who aren't good in the air (Tevez 12/9) shouldn't dominate the air. it is all about realism, right?

Not all headers involve getting higher than someone.

when i played as man utd i noticed tevez and rooney scoreing a unrealistic ammouts of headers, i think in real life rooney and tevez have scored 2 headed goals between them since they been at united.

I agree with Ackter. In FM07 the guy with the highest jumping ability would almost always win, thus making a targetman unrealistically effective and in general the outcome of a header much to predictable. It's not like that in football. There are many things that determines the winner of a header, like positioning, aggression, bravery, awareness, etc and probably a fair bit of chance.

The thing about FM headers is that we have no feedback on the height at which the heading took place.

The header could've been a leaper high in the air, a diver inches off the ground, or a standing header.

Tevez's headed goal this year irl vs. Chelsea was a standing header. Rooney's diving header vs. Arsenal last year was a diver.

If Tevez's header in your game vs. Vidic were leapers in the air, i'd say a potential bug.

We have no way of knowing whether that was the case, however.

i Think Ayala is a brilliant example, the guys scores with his head during corners, and jesus he is one short fellow. But a briliant jumper and header of the ball.

It don’t happen often, but I agree with Ackter.
Attacking headers don’t always accoutre from a leaping contest.
A smart player (good off the ball and anticipation) can score lot of goals by positioning in front of the defender. If it is a good places cross you don’t have to jump at all.

It is a bug in the match comments if it says that player X is out jumping player Y and player X is obvious outclass in height by Y.

That's as much to do with the style of football man utd play as it is to do with their heading ability. If they still had beckham slinging crosses in from the right, they would have scored more headed goals, but they play everything into feet.

Michael Owen is an example of that (when fit). He's fairly short but scores a lot with his head for his size.
