New game with Spurs... expected to mount a title challenge within two years.

First season... expected to qualify for Europe. Semi-final of the League Cup, quarter final of the FA Cup and the UEFA cup. Fell away at the end of the season and finished 7th in the league, qualifying for the intertoto.

Second season... expected to qualify for Europe again, although the board are a bit grumpy at the lack of title challenge. Got to the quarter finals of both domestic cups, and finished sixth in the league. Had a chance at 4th, but had to beat Chelsea and Arsenal in two of my last three games (Arsenal had gone the entire season unbeaten and had won the league by mid-April). Got a draw at Stamford Bridge and beat the Gooners at home, but it wasn't good enough, despite trouncing Derby in my last match However, I did win the UEFA Cup, prompting the board to tell me they were very happy with the unexpected success.

Not happy enough to renew my contract though.

I've never been sacked in any incarnation of FM before, especially not straight after winning a trophy. Absolutely gutted, as I had laid the foundations for a great team. The Mrs doesn't really understand, so I thought I'd share my misery here...

Did you try asking for a new contract? Seems some people don't even think of it and from experience, it usually works.

Yup. They weren't interested. Seems SI have made Tottenham's board too realistic.
