It's 2010. I've taken Ross County to the SPL, where we managed to survive the first year, relatively comfortably.
That summer, my idiot chairman spends 1.5m putting heating under the soil. This is stupid. My strategy is based on creating crappy conditions and counter attacking. It also put the club seriously in the red.
He's absolutely furious with my handling of the bank balance. Eh? We were sitting pretty until the mental incompetent screwed it up.
Amazingly, however, we started the season off taking 9 points out of 9. We're top of the table. I'm happy. Then the idiot chairman returns...
So, now he's started to accept bottom-line offers for all of my decent central defenders. He's accepted offers for my two starting center defenders. They're gone. The reserves aren't half as good. Neither offer was even that good and didn't significantly impact the (entirely new) debt.
So, to sum up:
(1) My chairman went out and paid out for a completely unnecessary extravagance;
(2) is furious with me because he did so;
and
(3) is now ruining any chance of survival to...umm...not make a dent in the debt he created unnecessarily.
Are some real life chairmen idiots? Sure. Is this really a benefit to the game? Nope. My suspicion, additionally, is that this is poor planning by SI, not "realism."
Yup. I got promoted from the Norwegian 2nd division and was hovering at around £100k in the red when the club decided to expand the stadium, costing a whopping £4.5m!!! I know that some leagues have minimum stadium requirements, but I was not informed whether the increase in seats was due to league rules or not.
The board are now "distraught and devastated with the state of the clubs bank balance" and want me to correct this asap, something which is hard to do when your highest valued player is worth £12k.
There is no way in hell we can turn this around short term, even a £500k cash injection by the board barely maded a dent.
Unsuprisingly most news items about my players now involve rumours about them having to leave becasue of our precarious financial state. I've also seen this news message for a lot of other clubs, leading me to believe that the same thing is happening to the AI clubs.
Administration here we come...I really dont see any other way out of it when the club's estimated value is £500k and we're over £4m in the red.
