I am in the process of making an animation (it should be below) and am simply wondering -- is there any way of making it smoother?

I have the frames set to "No Delay" in Imageready, and it's not to bad. ?Still, if I could make it better I would.

Should I make the speed of the lines slower, or would that have any effect?

Is making if smoother even possible with an animated gif? ?At first I didn't think so.

Anyway, to end my rambling, ?this is my first post here so please excuse any blatant displays of ignorace!

Hi A 'o E,

It is difficult for us to see what your image is with no delay and no looping. It just appears to be a stationary image. I looked at the file and see that you only have 7 frames. If you want to have your image work smoothly, you would have to draw the lines of the blueprint over 20 frames or so, have it loop endlessly, and set the delay to .10 seconds or less, perhaps .07 seconds.

The GIF you linked has 18 frames. Here's one posted a while ago on this site which has 185 frames.

Oops....

I guess I only saved the loop in the psd. Sorry about that. It's here now, though...

Just out of curiosity, would simply using more frames for the same amount of movement not slow down the speed of the animation?

The Spiderman animation seems smooth, but then again the actual distance covered is small (Looks like a lot of work!). In the PST animation linked, there are more frames, but it also seems like a longer animation before it loops....

Can I compress more frames into the same amount of time even though delay is already set at 0? I am planning on making more of the animation until I reach the other image (below), but I sorta want to know before I continue (I don't want to labour in vain!)

Thanks for your help! [righton]

Avatar 'o E,

I thought you wished to have the drawing appear more slowly but smoothly. That's why I suggested increasing the delay but adding more frames. If you wished to have the complete image drawn slowly you will likely need thirty or so frames with the lines extending from several points at once. That way you can have the image drawn smoothly over the period of maybe two seconds.

So, there's no way of increasing the frame rate...

I'll use your suggestion -- Thanks for helping another Newb-in-Distress!
