is there any way of getting a player with a major concern 'wants to move to a bigger club' or similar to stay? is the only option selling the player?

Ive had a couple that have just backed down after I started playing well. I accepted bids for Lehtovaara but he decided he wanted to stay in the end. When they say to the press they want to go choose the response about fulfiling there ambitions at the current club that sometimes works!
